I'm extremely jealous of you all! I moved into an apartment in the city (Richmond, VA) recently. I'm unable to decorate outside for a haunt (except for my extremely small deck), because I have no lawn. And I can't throw a party due to the size of my apartment - It feels "full" with 5 people there! (And on top of that, my room-mate doesn't like Halloween, and hates all the decorations I've put up. Boo.)
Best of luck to all of you. Everything I've seen - pictures and videos - you guys have posted are looking awesome.
So, what does one like myself do?! I can't sit idle and do nothing for Halloween. Anyone in Richmond need some help?

What do you do...hmm...Scream Forest....Blood Lake...(those are both in Hanover, just a little north of Richmond)...there's a haunted canal boat ride on Halloween itself (and it's free...a definite plus for college students)
To participate...check with the Poe Museum, they may need help with what they're up to, and it's in Shockoe, so not that far (trust me...I walk from work downtown to campus, it's an easy stroll). Maybe check with Haunts of Richmond, see if they're looking for help (they do Blood Lake -- AND a year round haunted tour).
U of R is putting on a Halloween festival (and that's a great setting), though seems to be more for the kids, still... You'd think that VCU, with it's strong arts influence, and being the birthplace of GWAR, would have something more for Halloween. Maybe some of us should do something about that (though not this year!)
On another note...why is GWAR not playing at VCU's 40th anniversary bash????????a plague on both your houses

Oh yes. Theres plenty to do for Halloween up in Virginia!
I think Auditor got them all (or most.) plus if you go to your local
spirit store, they should have a bunch of flyers somewhere on a pole
of local haunted houses. Maybe you could give them a call if you'd like to help?

It may be a little late in the season to try this, but see if you can get in on volunteering to help decorate a haunted house! Do you have kids? Ask at school whether the school is having a haunted house. Ask at the library and at your church if your church has a haunted house (some churches do this every year). You can really get in on Halloween and have that sense of accomplishment by creating lots of stuff that will freak out and thrill the little kiddies.

Come out to Blood Lake next October if you didn't have a chance this season.... fun times!

And even if you've already been... come visit again next year! We'll be adding more to our indoor attraction... as well as coming up with a BRAND NEW outdoor trail. We're trying to become Richmond's absolutely, positively SCARIEST haunted house!
Thanks for the shout outs!

Ask friends and co-workers if they're decorating and volunteer to help there...
Check with local haunted attractions and see if you can work them (construction or as an actor).
Always something to do!'The Pirates of Evergreen'- this Halloween and EVERY Halloween - 1700 Block of Evergreen Street in Burbank, California.
Beware the cursed treasure, says I...
