I got off of work yesterday and took my boys to Wal-mart, they wanted a store bought costume instead of being creative...but that's a different story.
We got 3 Wal Marts in town. 2 Super Wallys and 1 regular one. We went to our newest Super Wal Mart, and entered through their garden center... What's the first thing I see... 4 aisles of Christmas lights, bulbs and trees... I've seen the posts and knew it happens, but it's still shocking.
We actually got into the store, and believe it or not...they had 6 aisles dedicated to Christmas decorations already. You know, the placards that says what goes where. Well, the shocking thing was...employees were already removing Halloween decorations and stocking Christmas.
I remember last year, at least Wal-Mart had inflatables and quite a few decorations on display. Nothing this year though...a crappy display of childrens costumes, and not a big selection.
We left this super Wal-Mart to go to the regular Wal-Mart closer to our house, and the same thing. They were clearing off 1 row of Halloween shelves and replacing with Christmas.
I was so ticked, we left everything there and decided NOT to shop at Wal-Mart. I am sooo tempted to call the manager and ask WTH is going on and letting him know we were highly disappointed.
There should be someone we could complain to....I hate to use the word boycott, but something has to open their eyes. Too bad we all couldn't complain to the corporate side of the business and let them know what we think...
Anybody else fed up completely with the way Halloween is getting overlooked? I like Christmas too, but now I'm really beginning to forget about it.

Seems to be happening everywhere
I don't think it would do much good to boycott, there are people buying Christmas stuff this early, or they wouldn't have it out.

I already don't shop Wal-Mart due to other issues.
I think I've been in a Wally world maybe 2-3 times in the last 5 years.
I absolutely think that saying something to the managers of the stores that are not stocking Halloween in favor of rolling Christmas out waaaaaay early is one of the first steps in letting them know that their customer base is not happy.
I've said stuff like this before to managers myself. I was very polite, but mentioned that Halloween is a growing holiday as far as spending... it's not all about the candy anymore.

It just seems so weird! All of the stores I have been to seem to have very little in the Halloween dept. Walmart, kmart, even some of the spirit and Halloween express store seem very different this year. I thought it was just me! I do all my shopping on EBAY and make many of my own props, so its not a huge deal, but COME ON PEOPLE!! They had a report the last few years that halloween outsold XMAS! I guess these people don't like money. LOL!

well despite the halloween section being quite ... lacking (except for the 4 solid walls of candy) it's still up at my local walmart.
as for christmas stuff in the garden section, the doesn't surprise me where i am, our local walmart has one perpetual shelf dedicated to christmas all year in the garden area
the only christmas things that should be out this time of year is the lights so that haunters can grab them up and modify them for halloween

And the best advice you may ever get is never to go out…at night.

At least they could put stuff on sale before they pull it. On a better note the props you can buy now are 100 times better than they were even 5 years ago, and fairly cheap- at walgreens and other retailers you can usually buy decent 4-5 ft tall animatronic witches, grim reapers, etc for under $20.

Oh, God. I feel your pain. That's horrible. I also don't like Wal-Mart for other reasons, but that is never a pretty sight to see anywhere.

My local walmart is the same. They have hardly any halloween stuff.
Till I found one adult costume, was about 20 minutes.
There were no animated props, no inflatables, not lights, just costumes and candy.
Even the halloween store by me is kind of empty. The first year we have one.
There is one corner with maybe 20-25 mens costumes. The rest of the store is womens and kids. Overpriced too.
I did spend almost 70 bucks today on halloween supplies, though.
