I had to work afternoons last night, so I didn't get home til after 2 in tha morning. The wife surprised me by leaving the lights on...the yard looked great. She told me when I climbed into bed that my FCG had died minutes after turning it on.
I knew the motor was weak, as it came from a Christmas decoration that allowed a reindeer to move his head back and forth, but was hoping it would at least last until the big night!
I don't know what to do now. Those Dayton motors are expensive, but I guess I'll have to scrape up some cash and try to get one real quick.
Too bad...she was the centerpiece of my display this year...

Sorry to hear that, but I don't think you will regret spending the money, mine has run for 5 years now with not a hitch. The FCG is one of my all time favorites.

I've heard good things about the rotisserie motors you can get for $20 at some of the big box stores (Wally World, Home Depot...etc).
I'm using a hacked oscillating fan motor I got for free. I tore it apart, and disconnected the bar that restricts the motor's movement to 180 degrees, and got a really slow, 360 degree rotation. It was a booger to figure out the ways to attach the necessary driveshaft, but I believe it will work well, and it has great torque.
I haven't tested it with the FCG on there yet, but in theory, it should work.

You can keep a link to American Science & Suplus's website saved somewhere (American Science & Surplus : Items Just Off the Truck ). Their stock comes & goes but I picked up a 7RPM Molon gearmotor for $9.50 as an emergency spare for my FCG rig if needed. It has the same voltage, amps, physical size and screw mounts as the Dayton I use.
I just checked he site for you and it is not listed at the moment but might be something to check until you definetly HAVE to get one.

Don't know if it'd be worth your trip up to Bloomington, but Hobbyland in downtown Bloomington (309/828-1442) carries an E-Flight 380 size electric motor for $9.99. Not sure if the big boxes carry anything like it to save you the trip. Included the phone no. so you could give them a call and talk to one of the guys there, they're really nice & helpful. Good luck!
