I put the crypt up today but it needs something. The front is just too bare. Any suggestions?

    Wow, looks great....
    here's a couple of ideas:
    1) put some bushes and parts of an old fence with moss and spider webs
    2) put a very large spider web on one side with spiders
    3) make some gargoyle columns on either side of the door
    4) put some tombstones close by as you walk up to the crypt
    5) put out some tiki torch lights or walk lights or lanterns
    6) if not gargoyles how about pillars with pumkins on them
    7) put a skeleton outside, maybe slumped against the wall by the door (spider idea on the other side?)

Close your eyes and think dark, old graveyard...you'll get there.

More is better here, so put as much as you can.

One more idea...Name it and make a sign...All crypts say who they're for don't they?

I'd go with a couple tombstones on each side just in front. Maybe a lit jack-o-lantern by one side of the door. And a sign of some sort to one side of the door up on the wall.

Just realized Elza mentioned those also but that just goes to show those are great ideas.

The tiki torch ideas would go down well too.

columns with JoL or gargoyles on them

on one side, a long plaque with the name, on the other a similar plaque with the rules (no touching, strobes in use, etc...)

This may sound funny but how about graffiti? It will give it that abandoned 'anything can happen here' vibe.

    Jonn -

Nice crypt! You could attach skulls or laterns. I have seen the Halloween door knockers painted to match on some crypts and they look cool too. One of the large zomibies - I keep seeing them at Walgreens for $29 and I haven't found a place for one yet. would look hanging over the top or you could have skeleton or two reaching out from the roof.

    Bars for a door.
Moss and or vines covering the front.

Maybe even a fog machine and chiller blowing smoke from the inside out

Good suggestions so far. I think something over the entrance and something to break up the side panels would work. I like the idea of columns with gargoyles or jol's on either side of the door. A large skull over the door would set it off. Lots of options. It will be seen in the dark with ambient lighting so you don't need to go nuts on detail, just somethings to break up the plain facade. Looks very nice, btw!
