At a haunt/ hayride/ etc. who was the best real live person to ever scare you?
I went to a haunted wood, overall it was meant for the kids, but we went for nostalgic reasons. There was a guy dressed up like beetlejuice, who walked by like he was going to his car or something, not looking at us or acting strange or anything. Until he got right beside us, he turned, screamed at the top of his lungs, and then kept on his wayScared the crap out of me.

My biggest scare was at the Haunted Hotel (haunted house in downtown) The haunt is undeground so at the beginning you go down stairs, and at the end you go up. At the end i saw the light pouring in and i thought it was over but then i heard the roar of a chainsaw and a man dressed as leatherface chased me up the stairs (i tripped).

If you ask my wife, she will say that, without a doubt, it was the hooded follower (Monticello, IL, 2004). As soon as we entered the HH (set up inside the closed-for-winter public swimming pool's locker rooms & lobby), a petite person (child?) wearing a simple hooded robe and whitened face makeup started silently following us. Four years later, she STILL talks about how much that creeped her out.
Personally, it is the actor up ahead, standing there in plain sight, waiting patiently for me to approach that scares me the most. You see him up ahead, waiting for you, and know you have to keep going anyway. And, not only do you worry about what HE will do once you are near enough, you also wonder who else is lurking ahead. Who is there that you CAN'T see, while your attention is fixed on the guy you CAN see. Its all psychological. To me, that is 100 times more scary than some guy screaming in my face."Well I guess they were wrong then, weren't they?" I-gor

The dot guy or girl startled me. They have dots on the wall, and the person blends in. That was about it.

It was the group ahead of us at a local Haunted House (Downs, IL). You're lead down one side of a pitch black split room, hear what sounds like "oh no we're gonna crash" and then huge spotlights come up & the group ahead of us jumped up from behind a fake car front & screamed their heads off at us. It was awesome.

I think the little kid following someone around would be unnerving.

Mine is basically the same thing we went to a HH and right from the beginning I had a guy in costume follow me the entire time start to finish even followed me to the car and never did or said a thing totally eerie feeling freaked me out to the max I got in the car and he still just stood there and watched in the window of the car.

Walking through the dark woods with a flashlight, we were going through an area that appeared to have nothing in it. Not surprising, since the haunt designer had 100 or 200 feet between "scenes". Then, the trees, which looked darn real, grew arms and hands and quickly reached towards us with a groaning noise. After we got by the 4 of them, running and screaming, I looked back to see that the "trees" were actually people standing behind thin trees wearing costumes that looked like tree bark. When they put their arms down, the pattern of the print on the costume all matched. The effect of trees coming at you, in an area where you were thought you were safe, was unexpected and frightening.
