looking for some advice on sound control.
I am working a haunted trail this year.
there are two bridges that the wagons will cross.
the first I'd like to have the wagons trigger a cd to play "GET OFF MY BRIDGE!!!!" this will need to be through a stero that can have deep volume in the woods.
on the second bridge I'll also need a trigger that the wagon will trip.
on this bridge I like to either have kids laughing or a voice that jumps around saying here Iam , over here, hey I here. just jumping all over.
don't know much about this stuff, so I'll need a step by step how to.
thanks!

The first is pretty simple. A basic stereo set up (do you have shore power at the bridge?) and you'll be good to go. IR beam or motion sensor to set it off, or give the driver a simple remote for the MP3 player and he can hit the button as they pass by. Voice booms... GET OFF. If it is a covered bridge, point the speakers toward the roof to bounce the sound. If not, put them under the bridge and crank up the volume.
The second set up is harder. You've got two choices. Discrete audio sources, or attempt a surround sound. I'd go with the discreet. Get a bunch of cheap MP3 players, and some cheap non-powered speakers. Crank up the volume on the MP3 players and put them all over the bridge. Put them on loop, and just leave them playing. They won't be loud enough to be heard anywhere but close to the bridge, and even then it will be hard to hear something distinct. And it will be constantly changing location and direction.
Damn, that would be creepy.

wow ok. thats better then what I was dreaming up.
trying figure useing a car distributor to send the sibnal to 8 different speakers through out the bridge.
going to try use a woofers under the bridge with a photo sensor breaking the speaker line to the woofers and a cd on a loop.

Yea, I'd get three of four, record different things on each one, and put them strategically all over the bridge. Man, that is creepy, and I'm going to have to steal the idea for my haunt.
The fact that they aren't "synced" isn't relevant. The lack of sync will actually make it creepier.
I've thought of doing something similar with focused sounds. Don't think that would work in a hayride situation, but mine's a walk through so I may do it yet.

I picked this up from Ripleys haunted house in myrtel beach SC.
You walk in to a pitch black room (can't see anything at all) feeling along the walls , then you hear him "I'm right behind you" them 2 steps later you hear "I'm here" coming from in front of you. it continues until the lights come on and you in a round room with carpet on the walls and no door in or out(kinda freaky) then a door opens to reveal a sign "this way"
excellant haunt, if you ever get there be sure to visit it, and also the other about a half block away with the clown guy, though it a lower budget it's just has good if not better then ripleys
