issues with Buycostumes.com

I have ordered from these guys and have had the following problems:

1) my order was broken up in several packages arriving at different times

2) most of the order arrived about 11 days passed the expected time of delivery window

3) one item was completely broken (motion activated moving rat in a trap) where the tail was not attached and the mechanism was not working

4) one item (the 6 foot animated clown) had the velcro attacments from the pants to the shoes on backwards and the entire clown suit ripped

5) my $450 Batman costume got divided and most of it is still missing somewhere in Windsor, Ontario (went through hell just to get them to do a trace and start looking for it)

A supervisor is giving me my money back on the rat and possibly the clown.

Needless to say, I will never buy from these guys again!

I'm sorry to hear that. I've had always good luck with Buycostumes and I have been shopping there for 5 years. Last year, after Halloween, I bought alot of their 1/2 off stuff and it came it different shipments and the only issue was that one of the boxes had been damaged and the FX Lightning machine I had bought was missing. (I don't know if it "accidentally" disappeared or had a little help.) Either way, they sent me another at no charge.

Again, sorry to hear that you had issues with them.

I have dealt with them for years with zero problems. However..I have to say that I have had nothing but issues when I sent things over the border.

One difference between them and others is that you actually spoke to someone and was willing to work with you.

Sorry to hear that you had such a problem. They are actually one of my favorites.

You are dealing cross border which can add significant delays in shipping. I have seen packages held for up to a month at customs waiting to clear properly

This is not an issue with buycostumes its Canada Customs.

i have bought from them a few times and i am in quebec canada and had good customer services , i got 2 life size deffective props 2 years ago and they did everything to fix the problem and i didnt have to return the defective ones . also items always got her fast .....contact customer service and nicely talk with them explaining the problem.

other note canadian customs this year are TERRIBLE , every packages i got via priority mail as been opened up , but every packages i got from ups they didnt open ......i am a gardner collector and me and a friend ordered plants from the united states this year a few times and my friend as an import liscence and another permit for that as she is a business as she sells plants perrenials and we got delays at customs over a months long on 2 orders that all the plants had died and rotten in the shipments so canadian customs this year are terrible and the worse ones wore where your at in vancouver (when it had to cross border there) and at windsor ontario border i dont know why but montreal no problem....so the delays are caused by the customs and i hope many people complain to the higher responsables for this so that they fix their problems .

I have bought many things from Buycostumes and have never had a problem with them. In fact I always receive items promptly from them. Sorry to hear you've had problems with them!

I am sorry to hear about your problems with buycostumes.com. I totally feel you pain, as I am going through a Halloween nightmare with a competitor of buycostume.com - Spiritofhalloween.com. I gave up on Spirit and purchased some things from buycostumes.com and within a week I had my products.

mabey it was just bad luck...online orders alone are an inherent risk in themselves, aren't they?
