Took my son with be to Lowes yesterday he loves the mummy they have. Halloween has been relegated to one end cap so they could fill the rest of the seasonal area with Christmas! Now don't get me wrong I love Christmas just about as much as Halloween. but come on it's not even October yet![]()

I have actually found that most places have been a let down for new Halloween stuff and Lowes is just one of many

I know what you mean, I went to Kmart to look at Halloween stuff the other day, and they have their entire floor of Christmas trees set up already!

Right there with ya'!
Yesterday we took the kids and drove 2 hours to the nearest "big city" to do some Halloween shopping. We hit a Lowe's, 2 Walmarts, a Spirit Store, Halloween Headquarters, 2 Targets, Michael's, Hobby Lobby, Sam's Club, 2 Walgreen's, 2 Big Lots, a Spencer's, an Underground, 2 Party City's and lastly, 2 Kroger's. We found no "great" Halloween things to get and actually spent more on gas and food than we did on Halloween stuff. We didn't get home until after 11:00. *YAWN*
I did get the Crawling Zombie girl though at the Spirit store there because the Spirit locally doesn't have her. And my son got a creepy baby that he named "Jack". I'll post pics of what we got after I get them loaded.
Also, there is a Krispy Kreme there so it wasn't a total loss. lol!
On a side note, there is a new store here that just opened last week called Halloween Costume Warehouse and they have tons of costumes & masks, several neat props and the prices are way better than the Spirit Store. Has anyone ever heard of them?"Scare me once, shame on you. Scare me twice ... you'd better run like hell."

I have been to several Lowes the ones in Tennessee and North Georgia where I live are like you described. I traveled down to around Jupiter Fla to help my Dad and checked out the Lowes and holy Cow what a difference even the Big Lots in Fla has WAY more stuff than Tn. I really think its the manager at the store who determines what they want to carry etc. But I agree with other threads about this seems most things are from the past few years very few "new" items out.

I agree completely. It actually pisses me off when I see this. And watch, the first week of october, they will start clearing out the Halloween stuff. In 2005, around the 2nd week of October, we went to Wal-Mart for some things, only to find that Halloween was gone. But Xmas wuz in full swing. Retail stores are just ridiculous when it comes to this. The Halloween stuff shouldn't be clearanced until the last week of October. It's just wrong.

I hope I don't catch a lot of grief for this post, but here it goes anyway

We are the minority! that is why Halloween items are not up until about a month out.
.
There are not enough sales so that they have more aisles full of items.
More people get into x-mas than they do in H-ween. When you drive in the month of October, there are only a handfull of houses decorated, but when youre driving in the month of December almost all the houses have decorations up.
Don't get me wrong either, I go all out for Halloween
Even more than I do for x-mas and I too, find it fustrating that some of the stores I went to at the begining of the month had x-mas items out and not h-ween.
It is fustrating, but it is also expected.

i bet if halloween were a national holiday things would be different. if only, if only...

anyhow, halloween stuff should be in stores at least in september and all through october and into at least part of the first week of november, then the thanksgiving stuff and christmas stuff can be put out.
stores that put christmas stuff out (that arent chistmas specific stores) before november should be fined.
having the stuff out in august (in some areas it happens) just over promotes the holiday and the excessive emphasis on chistmas is emotionally numbing and can create humbugs, who despise the holiday simply because of its over popularity and that it is in your face for 4 months or longer.
i like the december holiday and all but there is a limit...somewhere in the north-woods darkness, a creature walks upright.
And the best advice you may ever get is never to go out…at night.
