Well, firstly, i need to ask some advice from you guys. I'm in my teens so i still live with my Mum and my older brothers. None of them hate Halloween, but none of them are as obsessed with it as i am. I hate reserving Halloween to just one day, as it goes so quickly. I want to decorate the house maybe a week or two in advance, even though i'm not planning to have a party this year (I just love the feeling the decorations give me when i see them). I doubt my brothers would be too keen on the idea, but i don't think my mum would mind. Should i ask her? I mean... there's nothing to loose, but it really stresses her out when i start talking about Christmas in November, so will this do the same?
My second topic is for all the UK folk. I did do a thread on UK merchandise but hey. Do you guys no of any shops (Not online stores), that sells preferably cheap halloween stuff. I went into Brighton during mid-October last year with some mates and i dragged them into a pound shop which sold loads of nice; but in need of touch-ups; stuff like big ceramic pumpkin lanterns etc. I'll probably end up hitting the pound shops again or places like Wilkinsons, but i was wondering if you know any places that specialise in Halloween products like Smiffys for example.
Cheers.

Can't help with the shops, but as far as decorating, do ask your mom if it's okay to start a little earlier.
It couldn't hurt to ask, and it might lessen her stress about it being "early" if you offer to do the decorations yourself (maybe get some friends or your brothers to help with the stuff one person can't do alone) AND take them down in a reasonable amount of time after Halloween so she doesn't get upset.

I agree with frankie's girl. And as for the comparision to Christmas, It isn't uncommon for people to get stressed about Christmas. That is the one holiday that seems to get people stressed more than others. Halloween doesn't involve last minute gifts or distant relatives popping into town at the last second uninvited. I think your mother would be OK with Halloween versus Christmas decorations

You're also asking to put things up only a week or two early (she'll probably be happier with a week) as opposed to an entire month. I think you should ask her. Also negotiate which areas she's ok with you putting things up / make sure your plan of decorating doesn't have any prop that's in the way of things people need to get at / assure her you'll clean it up as well!

I agree Slaz, I loved Woolworths!
Mongo, I agree with the others, I would ask your mum to let you decorate, tell her you will do all the work setting up and tearing down, I am sure she will at least consider it.I have flying monkeys- and I'm not afraid to use them!

You should start with things like cornstalks and pumpkins and fall leaves NOW and then when the family gets used to that and thinks it's pretty...sneak in the good stuff
