Last year was the only year I had to work on Halloween - I didn't get home until 10. I still set up some my stuff, but had a friend come over. He passed out candy and jumped out of the bushes. He said it was great. I was sad. I don't know what to tell you.

You mean they won't give you Halloween off? Oh that sucks!!!

I would think that you won't be feeling well enough to go to work that day if that is the case...
My Dh calls in sick if it seems like they are going to have a problem with him asking for that day off. They expect vacation days to be requested around a month in advance, so he has plenty of notice if they are going to be jerks about it, and just keeps quiet until the day of, and then calls in sick. He works night shift, so he would miss EVERYTHING if he went to work... and they all know that it is our anniversary too, so he tells them he'll catch he!! if he works for our anniversary (not really, but they don't know that!
)
You could always try to trade shifts with someone that is off as well, or plead your case to your manager.
Or quit!

I knew things were going to be ugly this year for Halloween at my work so I took the whole week off. It was the only way to make sure I had Friday night off.

Man, that sucks. This year, I was smart. Took what vacation (paid) hours I had, and asked for a paid day off 6 weeks in advance for Halloween. And they approved it!!
I too work in reatil, and let me tell you, the week before halloween is called "he!!week" at my job.
It gets out of control.
It's just enought to cause the most sane man to LOSE his mind.
Everybody is asking where are all the costumes at?
On the night BEFORE Halloween!
What are you? Mentally insane?
I tell them "nope - sorry - sold out" and they usually get upset.
Oh well. Get over it. You should of bought it when we had them instock.
"Well, can you call another store about this costume?" they reply.
"Nope, sorry, they are on clearance" which means, NO MORE!
So, yeah it sucks hard. Sorry to hear that.My YouTube Channel: HERE
