I'm worried as well about our 3 cats when I set up my stuff....with all those moving pieces...it's gonna make a field day for them!!

I haven't set up yet... but I know it's going to be a challenge. I might have to set up on the dining room table!

I have Cat-Zillas that terrorize my village as well. We just get the water bottle and spray them down.

LOL, cats are the reason mine goes on top of the upright piano - its the only place they won't climb. I think its because of the sound the piano makes and it scares them so they stay away. If it were anywhere else I'd be in trouble.

As for the train station, I agree - it needs a train! Maybe next year?
I know for sure it says, "all aboard for the end of the line", "I have another box for the phantom station" and "I think I'll get off here" plus evil laughter.

One of the promises I had to make to the wife this year was, in exchange for letting me build all my props I had to make a landscape for the mantle and top of the upright piano as well to house her collection. Nice part is, I figure to gain several square feet of display space by extending the bases over the existing wood.

Lucky for me the local L&M (Fleet Farm-like store) gave away big blocks of foam a few weeks ago so I don't have to dig into my pink stuff!!

That sounds great! I started to do something like that this year but I knew I wouldn't get it done for several weeks yet and I am too impatient - I wanted it set up now!
I'd love to see pics when you get your wife's done!

You can always trade your upright piano for a baby grand.

I never intended to start with the Spookytown stuff, I already do a three-level christmas village complete with train. But I bought the pirate ship and isle of doom because of my pirate theme the past few years. And my mom bought me the mortuary. And my sweetie bought the motel and a victorian house. So I set them all up last year using the middle level platform from my christmas village. And then the train station came out, so i had no choice. I'll have to set up all three levels and decorate the train cars. Can't wait!
