I bought one of those foggers last year and couldn't get it to work well. It was floating up too high in my cauldron and bubbling. There was a bit of fog. But then again, I did have another container with punch in the cauldron with the fogger floating outside of it so maybe that was causing more bubbling and mess.
I have a few foggers but I still like dry ice. The volume is huge and it hugs the ground better than anything else. I'm planning on using it for a vehicle effect this year (spilling out open doors). I'm going to try it on a hot plate to keep the volume up.
You can't breath carbon dioxide but it's not toxic and your body will let you know (unlike nitrogen) that something is wrong.
It's an awful lot of fun in a cup of hot tea, too. Or in a beaker of hot water, if you are being a mad scientist. Don't drink it until the fog is completely gone and you can see into the cup to make sure the chip of dry ice has completely evaporated.
Never, ever put it in a closed container, however. That's literally a bomb that can kill you.
