I been to Target, Kmart, Micheal's,
Wal Mart (Regular & Superstores) Spirit, IParty
& Party City. None of them have anything I
really want or find exciting or even amusing.
I was wondering if anyone was experiencing the Halloween Slump this year?
I know I'm not being too choosy, because I usually walk out of those stores with
at least two bags of goodies, each. (Even if I wasn't looking for much in the way
of Halloween stuff.) But this year, I found nearly nothing that tripped my trigger.
I just can't seem to find anything really new, or interesting.
Am I just out of it this year? Is anyone experiencing the same thing?
A deflated spirit

I know what you mean, nothing has really jumped out at me this year that says I have to buy that. But I haven't been to Spirit yet and Spencers isn't totally finished yet. I seem to have become a lot more picky about quality.

They are just so over priced
Walmart has nothing good this year, which is sad, because they are normally good
Target has some nice things, but nothing that i really need

wolf i am not in the us but i feel the same way i went to the big Halloween store here and they have nothing for me to say yeahhhhh i want it and i went to costco and 2 aisle of xmas stuff and i prop for halloween with i rack of kids costume and all the things this year are so cheaply made and just rush to the store to make a buck . I bought 2 lantern last year they looks real and i went to buy some more and they dont have them this year instead they have a plastic lantern with a skull in front . Since i am new to the Halloween scene i dont know if one year it's good the next year it's bad and so on ...... maybe i am just too picky and want the top of the line .it all depend of the peoples need too

I was wondering if it was just me too this year. Usually I am green with envy by being overseas and missing all the great Halloween items in the States. However this year was there when they first were putting stuff out - meh - nothing really grabbed me. I'm usually trolling through the pictures on this site looking at all the goodies but again - meh - nothing outstanding with a couple high-priced exceptions.
The greatest things are the ones you fellow haunters make and the stores seem to flood with un-inspired poorly made items. Some of these make my 4 year old bluckys look well-made in comparison!
Back to the homemade props and fellow haunters for inspiration! (After reading the Hobbit again- a throne room with the Great Goblin has inspired me for right now.... down, down to Goblin Town...)Good morning to you Billy Bones, Billy Bones. Good morning to you charming Billy.

I have to agree, a bit disappointed. This is the first year I am really trying to go all out for halloween, (thanks to the many ideas i have gotten here) and am starting what i hope to be an annual halloween party and the more things i look at the more discouraged i get. But i guess that means i will have a number of projects to keep me busy so i am ready for next halloween

Yup over all there is just nothing to reach out and say "boo" on this years shelves. Lots of inflatables if that is your cup of tea (not mine) but even those are still the same designs as last year. the best I have found is some nice paper mache skulls at Lowes for $6.
Guess I will just have to pull out my old hand-me-down blucky and corpsify him and put him in the stocks. maybe get one of those $10 phoney security camera's and use the swing motor to make his head move back and forth.

I went to walmart and they had a Talking Gargoyle that I must have! (let me clarify: must have on CLEARANCE) I think it was about $90 and the face was a thick latex that moved while it talked.

My thoughts exactly! I got some Spooky Town stuff, and some other cute things at Micahels, but that's it. I am really disappointed with Walmart, Target, and Kmart.
