    Anybody have one of these?
    Is it cool?

Cannon Thunder Strobe Light - Fog Machines, Lights and More - Party Decorations - Party Accessories - Party America

My gut tells me it's just a regular strobe with cheap underpowered thunder sounds.
My local Kmart has them cheap.

They are a basic 35watt strobe with some VERY cheap sound effects....would not waste the money...

Yea i was at my local spirit on sunday, and they had an AMAZING display og a boarded up house, with scarecrows and birds and all that cool stuff. It looked like an old farm house in the middle of the store

Well there was an AWESOME thundering sound and flashes of light to simulate lightning

I asked the guy if that was the canon strobe and he said, yes it is the best effect you can buy for that money

Now mind you the sound coming from the house sounded fully amplified, so im not a moron

I asked him if he can open the box up and plug it in for me

He did, and it was so low and crappy sounded

I pretty much caught him in a lie, lol

I hope it's not the one I saw in a HSN video last night. It wasn't very impressive if it was.. I'd need to see it in person

You can see the video here: Halloween Fog Machine with Remote at HSN.com

They were demonstrating the strobe with the fog machine. The link is below the pic of the fog machine on the left

I wonder if there is a way to recreate that same effect but with the same techniques they used. Maybe it just needs to warm up in order to get louder?

BusterDog - I bought 2 of the lightning FX boxes last year and was very pleased. It comes with a CD of audio effects, which I transferred onto the computer and made a full length cd of just the rain and thunder tracks. Set them up with multiple lights and a high quality boom box (with lots of bass). Effective.
