I ToT'd 'til I graduated HS (1978) and back then it was whole candy bars, which were awesome!
Even tho' there was the drug and razor blade scare (I'm from Michigan, so Detroit was at it's height as the crime capital of the country, but we were 2 hours north in a small town, so fear but never any fact in our area) we still got homemade cookies, brownies, candy/caramel apples and cupcakes all in those fold over (no ziplocks yet

) sandwich bags. People would invite you in for hot cider or cocoa and fresh out of the oven things! Wow, do our kids miss a lot these days.

I didn't like hard candies, so anything like that (suckers, etc.) was still in the ToT bag in my sock drawer when Easter rolled around.
Chocolate was and still is my favorite! I like candy corn and those little pumpkin shaped shaped candies, and caramels!
Just hated getting pennies and bruised apples, so gross.
