I just got a great deal at Kmart on two Martha Stewart Metal outdoor lanterns, I mean 90% off so at $3.50 I couldnt say no.

My plan is to use them outside, perhapes with my pillars and I simply need a nice LED type flicker candle. Tealights and votives are way to small, these lanterns are over 15" high.

I need a pillar type candle anywhere from 5" to 7" hopefully with a nice amber flickering effect.

I been looking all over the web tonight but havent seen much and there are no reviews. I am hoping someone here can direct me to a store or suggest an item that they are happy with. There is no better advice than from the folks here on the forum, you guys know your stuff

    Thanks all!

Ironmaiden, I bought flickering candels with a wax outside for $6.99 at TJMaxx about 2 months ago...they were still there last month...I bought a different one last month there that you can actually blow out..it has a blow out sensor...the flickering effects are so realistic my DH and I always think about blowing them out when shutting down for the night. Check out the photo in my album it's the one on top of the gargoyle candle holder. Hope you find one!

You might take a look at SpookyBlue's SpookyFire blobs.

Basically, they're a small mass of flashing red LED's wired together to a 9 volt battery. It turns out that the random flashing of LED's ends up looking a lot like fire. If you throw in a few non-blinking ones, and a yellow one or two, the effect improves even more, IMHO.

I don't know what your experience with wiring electronics is, but this is a super, super easy project even if you've never done it before. It's a good introduction to haunting with LED's, and it's dirt cheap, too, if you order your LED's from online rather than buying them at your local Radio Shack (and even then, it's a pretty cheap project).

Evil-Mart carries them in two sizes in the craft dept.
The shorter one is $8.88, taller is $12.88. They do come scented, choice of either Vanilla or Fresh linen. They run on two AA batteries.
