I'm planning a halloween party and really want it to be something special and just wondered what have been the highlights from past Halloween events you've held or attended just to get a few ideas
Thanks![]()

I have thrown few Halloween parties but I remember one in the early 90's, I was living in a house with a creepy backyard, and set up a bunch of wooden tombstone props and colored lights. I seem to remember someone bringing a fog machine by also, to fog it up a bit...and I dragged my stereo system out there and blasted one of my favorite spooky sound effects tapes out of it. Very memorable little area it was!
I had also picked about 300 oranges from a tree out back, sweet seedless satsumas, I think they were, and a big bowl of punch was made using these oranges along with rum and some other stuff. It was very tasty and it was all gone within an hour, not a drop left..."WHAT'S out there?"
"I don't know.......it was little and brown, and low to the ground!"

I think most of the top moments from our parties come during the dancing.
Different characters dancing with each other.
People getting into their characters by dancing.
Of course the mummy wrapping contest was quite memorable as well lol

Well I wouldn't call this a highlight more of a warning. A couple of years ago I had put my gift bags (that I give as sort of door prizes) on the table in another room and I had put a candle on the table as well. It looked eerie through the french doors. Anyway the candle caught one of the bags on fire. In that bag was a 8 in. tall black cat candle wrapped in plastic. The plastic and the wax of the candle melted together and spread out all over the table. By the time I saw it the entire table top was blazing. Luckily, A guest was dressed like a mummy and her costume was made out of some fire repellant gauze stuff. So she ripped it off and put out the fire. (She had tank top and shorts under it.) The table top was not hurt because it was only the plastic that was really burning and the wax kept it from ruining the table. When they say never leave candles burning unattended, they are not kidding. No joking aside it scared me to death. I could have lost my house.
