Haven't done before, but i have wished i had previous years as i get so busy the week before, setting up the party then the haunt.
So a few weeks ago i booked a week off work, so with the weekends i'm off from the 25th-3rd
Be nice to have time to do everything, and mainly, soak in the best week before the big event.
I've been working all summer and haven't had time to go on vacation, so far i've only taken off 2 days for my 21st birthday in august. So i felt i deserved it.

Yup, I take the whole week off before my party. It takes that long just to set up for it, granted I'm not working on it 12 hrs a day. I spend about 5 hrs each day and that doesn't include trips to the store for extra things I need. I've just got so much stuff. I also took Halloween day off which will likely mean that I will need to work pretty late the night before to get things done.

My anniversary is Halloween, so we always take at least that day off.

I used to take Halloween off to do final prep and the next day off to rip everything down.
I had one of those jobs where taking any time off at all - any time of year - always came with a certain element of risk.
For example, November 1, 2006, the day Halloween 2006 was taken down, was a hellish nightmare. I spent half the day taking stuff down, the other half pacing all over the place on the phone. Just thinking back to it gives me the heebie-jeebies...*shudder*...
Those days are behind me. After pondering the idea the whole summer of 2007, I retired on Labour Day weekend at the sprite young age of 41. I had put myself in a fortunate situation and took advantage of it.
Interestingly, one of the things that was egging me on at the time was that I would have to be in New York City on Halloween night which was a problem given I don't live in New York City.
Is it remotely possible my passion for Halloween compelled me to retire?
Am I that twisted?
When I work on my Halloween stuff these days, I remain amazed I was able to actually get anything done back in the day.
Good times.

Yes! Otherwise it would be impossible to put everything up.

We usually have our Halloween party the Saturday prior to Halloween and I usually end up taking Halloween day itself off. When I lived outside of Michigan I would take two weeks off every year to come back home for vacation and to plan/throw a Halloween party. It's funny because I'll take time off for Halloween but don't feel the need to do so for Christmas.

Yuppers. I have the entire week off. Booked it in January. The only years I haven't done that is when I change jobs too close to Halloween and either don't have any vacation yet (in which case, I tell them I need to have the 31st off because of a prior engagement at the time I'm hired and as one of my hiring conditions), or I take whatever vacation I have available! LOL
