Or does anyone else find the offerings in the stores this year quite boring?

No, it's not just you. OEJ and I are feeling very much the same way. Every once in awhile I'll see something that gets my attention but nothing I HAVE to have. Except for a couple of things in the Terry's Village catalog and the Jim Shore pieces. But for the most part, this year seems pretty blah.

Feeling the same.

99% of the things I've bought have been from Walgreens and the Dollar Tree for our party and gift baskets. Nothing big.I'm a Halloween Bride! 10/31/2002

Yeah nothing is really catching my eye either. Hopefully by the end of this month, I'll get wowed.

For a few years there I was seeing an improvement in the Halloween deco's, but this year it is dismal. Not only has the variety dropped off, but the quality seems to be dropping as well. I didn't buy any blucky's this year because they are cheaper made than ever. So disappointed. I'm still waiting for our Spirit stores to open and see what they are like. Retail is missing out on a big market and probably because the buyers aren't into Halloween and/or they don't understand that we are out here.
I bought a set of plastic flatware (forks, spoons, & knifes) that I found at Garden Ridge that were skeleton bone handles, but when I get home and opened them up, I found they are so flimsy that it you try to eat with them they will break....Like, What's Up With That??? Geeeeeeeeeeeeeez!!!Spectorized

It doesn't really bother me that the store stuff isn't that great. I'm finding that each year, I'm creating more and more 'stuff' myself. Lots of my props cost just as much or less than if I were to buy them AND I know what kind of quality I'm getting. Of course I can't do that for everything, but I'm really trying to steer away from store-bought items as much as possible.

Yeah, I seem to be seeing the same old same old - nothing new to get excited about.

To be honest, I'm just so glad that it's THAT time of year again, I get excited just seeing anything Halloween in any store.

I agree. I'm so disappointed in the offerings this year. I'm getting the grey lady from Grandin Road and a few bits here and there ... but, basically, it's dismal.
