    Hi, folks!

Well, I promised hubby I'd wait until Oct. 1 to pull out the big guns, but I've managed to sneak in a few things so far...some bought, some made:

(Pieces were purchased separately; I threw them together last week.)

(I made this and three others. I may make a few more and put them in a jar to add to my Witch's Kitchen as Garden Gnome Heads.)

(Two of my latest guys drying.)

(Dried, bleached chicken bones; very easy project.)

    (Just a cute, I don't know, thing.)

I have about a gajillion more decorations and I tend to get "scarier" with them as I get closer to Halloween...but I'll post them as they go up.

I'll put my Witch's Kitchen here too...there's an explanation about it in the Crafts section:

And here is how my pumpkin vines are currently growing...no fertilized pumpkins yet:

Isn't it fun to start putting out little things here and there? I LOVE your little apple "shrunken heads!" I made about 8 of those last year, and figured the oven was as good a place as any to stow them away while they dried. Clearly, I wasn't thinking...as a couple days later they were starting to grow penicillin! ha! I put them outside on the deck until I could figure out how to save them, and the BEES got them within a matter of minutes! Anyway, don't mean to hijack your thread! I love your stuff and look forward to seeing more!

Hi, HallowedEve...yes, it's definitely fun to start sneaking a few things out!!! Gets me in the mood.

Your penicillin apples grew mold...just like apples want to do! It's very easy for them to get moldy. The reason mine don't get moldy out here (on the west coast) is because it's very dry (though people are saying this summer is a bit more humid than previous summers). I also put my apples in water with lemon and salt for a bit before hanging them up to dry--it helps a lot!

CM really enjoyed looking at your pictures.......I hope you tell us how to do them there apples & the bones.....I really could use some stuff like that in my Witches room! I think those apples are so cute & I have 2 apple trees here in my yard...BUT in North Carolina the humidity is tough to live with. I'm from Chicago & I can't get use to living where nothing dries out!!lol

    Muffy,

I wrote an article about doing the apple heads. I can't copy it here until it's published because it's now owned by the site that bought it, but it should be up in the next few days. When it goes up, I'll post it. They're fun!

The bones: I literally just cleaned some chicken bones after dinner one night, boiled them for about 30 minutes to get the last tiny bits of chicken to fall off them, then put them in a bowl full of bleach (the kind you use for socks/clothing) overnight and there you have them!

Thanks, MHooch. I love them too...I've been searching the site for awesome ideas! I can't wait until Oct. 1, because that's when I start bringing out really Halloween-related stuff.
