Do any of you ramp up your rubber masks to look more authentic? I would like to add some oozing sores or cracked skin to my evil clown mask this year to make it more realistic.

Definitely. I put on hair with a glue gun where I want it.

You could use liquid latex.

Last year I bought a generic "old man mask" on sale for 7 bucks and added in eyeballs that I made, plus fake teeth and makeup around the eyes, nose and mouth.

Yea I do it all the time with masks and props. You can turn a cheesy prop into something great with a little craft paint. Those sticky eyeballs you give as party favors, you know the kind that you throw at the wall so they will stick. Those work great in masks as props. They're cloudy and very dead looking.
