Thread: opinion on this years haunt

I have been decorating my yard for about 4 years now. I get such a great response that I always try to make it a little better. This year since my house is under construction, i am going to do a haunted house. I will be renovating my 1st floor after a second floor addition so i can mess with it first. here is the plan. the front yard will be the usual graveyard and the front porch a stone dungeon front. victims will enter the front door with a guide(me) who tells of a story of my dead grandfathers gift of the house but while renovating, too many scary things happened to continue. now we are going thru for redesign ideas. we will enter into a small dark corridor which was 3 small closets in a row. fishing line will be hanging down to simulate spider webs. small holes in the wall for actors to yell scares will be present and an air hose to be activated at the feet. when thru the corridor, we see a door cracked open with a dim light. I open it as I say, thats strange, we have no power yet. it is a bathroom with a blood filled sink and the shower door mirror says bloody mary three times in blood. I read it of course and the door starts to shake and screams come from the shower and hands come over the top and sides. I quickly shut the door and proceed to the next room. this room is the butcher shop with a body part meat counter. I ring the service bell and the butcher appears. He is bloody with a cleaver and tells me his specials. Im told he is all out of fresh forearm and tries to take mine. we run out to the next room. this will be a dot room. after being scared out of there, we will go into the last room. it will be dimly lit with a tv playing some freaky video(i need suggestions for this), a mattress, holes in the wall, a possible dropdown picture, and an empty chair with a chainsaw sitting on it. i start on my story about how this is my grandfathers favorite room and notice the empty chair. I tell everyone to hold on a minute, im sorry as i call on a radio trying to find out where the heck my chainsaw guy is. Im told he needed a break and i say i cant believe it i have a group here blah,blah,blah and suddenly from a hidden corner mr chainsaw appears with a running chainsaw and chases us out. The one thing im thinking about is actors. I can get my daughters dance class to help and ask for donations as a fundraiser(they are dancing in disney next year) does that sound ok and should I try to run 2 weekends?? I usually just run my yard full steam only on halloween night

It would be amazing in a darkened room, and even without sound is great because it is a silent film so all you'll be cutting out is the music.

Some times just static on the tv can be pretty freaky. Thats our plan for the tv we are going to use in the "ring" area of our haunt. We also use a small 7 inch tv (on static) in our "lab".
We do both week-ends for our haunt. ,every year we too have been getting bigger . So with so much work involved with putting it up, I couldn t bear to only have it on halloween only. Actually I stay outside for a few hours every day the whole week of halloween, to let people have ' sneak-peeks'! they enjoy going thru the haunt at their own pace and getting to look at all the details we put in..and We get to talk halloween and stand tall while we get our egos inflated. LOL
