I'm sorry it didn't work out for you. Our Spirit store finally opened on Sunday, they are still setting up scenes and pulling props out of the boxes for demos....all with NO AIR CONDITIONING! In Florida! MY DH and I sweated for an hour in there yesterday looking around. Doesn't seem like the store owner was really invested in that location. It's too bad, some people ruin everything.

Sounds like a horrible place to work and or shop. Which location was it with the horrible manager so that we can all make sure to avoid it?

I was in my local spirit a few days ago, and the Three of the employee's came up too me and said People under 18 need an adukt with them. Being almost 21 I pulled out my drivers license too show my age., The left me alone for about 10 mins,. then told me too buy or get out., So I left. I noticed a few shoppers ask why I was thrown out,. then they dropped their items and left too., Guessing by what items the people put back I would say the store lost about 1$1,000 In sales., I Had a biggest grin on my face as I walked away
I'm done with spirit stores., And yes I was going to buy I had a $100 dollar bill I was just trying to decide what too invest in.

I HATE spirit halloween stores! All the employees are rude and don't care about what they are doing. Here is my story. I would always try to shop at my spirit stores. The manager always had an attitude with me when I would ask questions. Just plain rude. So i went into spencers 1 week before halloween when they had 50% off. I was buying a bunch of stuff! It just so happens that the district manager was there. She started talking to me. She brought up the fact that they own spirit halloween stores. I told her I knew that. I then told her I REFUSE to shop there! She asked why and I told her. I said I refuse to shop at a place that is rude and disrespects a customer. She was amazed and said that she would be looking into the matter. Ill stick with spencers...

Southernbelle, I congratulate you on quiting. I would have done the same exact thing! I worked at Halloween USA 3 years in a row. every year they called me back because of how much I loved halloween and how much knowledge I had about it. They let me open stuff and set up scenes and I loved every bit of it. My managers took pride in the scenes i set up because their bosses loved it!

The fact that he said that having that job made him hate Halloween is really depressing to say. Sounds like a real jerk! I would have quit too, i wouldn't be able to be in that kind of enviorment.

Wow, although we havent had spirit stores here the last two years, I must say that when we had them the district managers and store managers were great to me. There were younger employees that didnt care, but thats typical of young minimum wage workers in any field. I went in many times that I didnt buy anything and wandered for hours and they were always helpful. It worked well for them in the end as before the season was over I had spent over 4 grand. Its been 3 years and I think im still sending visa payments for it.

Also, he doesn't allow any pictures or videos to be taken of the merchandise. WTH???? I went to 2 stores last year and they let me take all the pics I wanted.

I took this job because I thought it would be fun. If I wanted minimum wage, a whiney boss and NO FUN ... I would have applied to Walmart!

I just told him this wasn't for me and left.

I will be emailing Spirit this morning though to let them know about this store. It's so sad to see people in a job they have absolutely no passion for.
I really hate to hear you quit your job.......I dont think I could work for folks like that either, good luck to you in the future,I cant imagine having a halloween store without displays, this manager is nuts, maybe a call to HIS or HER BOSS would be in order.
