So I'm sure this is running through alot of people's minds. It's for sure in mine. Anyway, I was just courious if any of you post Haunt Rules up to the public. If so what are they? I'm trying to think of some good ones. I would like to write them in Halloween style so it will fit in more with the haunt.
Thanks!![]()

One that I've seen/heard a lot that's my favorite is, "Touch nothing and nothing will touch you".

I don't, but I sure need to. We can only let three to four people go through our haunt at a time, because it is a glorified dot room. More, and the dot effect doesn't work. So I need to post some rules to help out. I like the "touch nothing and nothing will touch you" rule. A couple others would go a long way toward a happier haunt. I'm going to have to think on this one.

Runwolf-
Since you only admit 4 at a time, what do you do to keep the people that are waiting in line to wanna stay? I was thinking if I ever did a walk through the house or something, I'd want to entertaine the guest outside. Maybe some live actors/costume contest with a VIP showing?halloween is a super cool holiday.

There is only so much you can do when your lines get long. At the entrance last year, I had built a coffin to house my boris head. (For those that don't know, Boris is a talking skull that uses a microphone to talk.) The talking boris-in-a-coffin kept those at the head of the line entertained (I talked live, interacting with the TOT) and the general excitement kept the rest waiting.
This year we are adding a bit more. We are building a 15x17 foot facade to the dot room that will look like a haunted house. The line will queue up along the front, and in a window of the house we will have two boris skulls talking to each other on a modified crank ghost frame so the heads bob up and down while they talk. We've got a 15 minute script worked out, and that will hopefully keep the line more entertained this year, and be automated so that we don't have to man it.
At the front door of the house will again be my Boris-In-A-Coffin. It will be done live again, and will interact with those waiting to go in the house. Just inside the door will be a small room with a few surprises. Basically guests will enter the house in their small group, and wait in the small room to enter the dot room. The small room will have a few spooky props and a drop panel for an additional scare. A small pre-recorded script will tell them a brief ghost story about the "house" they are in, the drop panel will scare them, then they enter the dot room.
After the dot room they exit out to our static props and can linger and look all they want. So we are doubling our "inside the haunt" ability this year. We'll have 3-4 people in the small room and 3-4 people in the dot room. Plus the live boris at the door and the scripted boris conversation in the window. Hopefully that will keep people in line entertained.

Please forgive my ignorance, but what is a "dot" room?

A dot room is a room full of dots. The idea is you build a light-tight room with black walls and cover the walls with florescent dots. Then you make a live actor wear a ninja suit with the same size dots all over it. The result is that the actor disappears in the room as long as they stay still. So your guests enter the room and it appears empty, until the actor moves and gives them a fright. Oh yea, and you hang a black light in the dark room to make the dots glow.
You can read our how-to at our website. Welcome to the Frontpage.
