I'm just kind of curious to see how many other people on here put up a Halloween tree? I'm attaching a picture of mine from last year. I need to find a new tree to replace it this year as the one last year didn't make it through the tornados at my mom and dad's house where I had it stored.

That looks great!
I don't have one yet but reallly want one. I wanted one of those black Christmas trees they were selling at Garden Ridge last year but the more I think about it, a lot of the ornaments wouldn't stand out on the black. But I think they had a bright purple and an almost neon green as well...maybe they'll get them again this year.

well, I was just on flickr.com looking for ideas. I acquired 2 yesterday at a thrift store. one is black (looks like tinsel?) and one is purple/black & glittery. Both are small...12-15"? and I'm trying to figure out how to decorate them. any suggestions for a small tree? or should I just leave them as centerpieces?

I've been thinking about adding a tree this year. There was an earlier thread where someone suggested using a white tree, rather than a black, since most of the ornaments/decorations are black. I thought that might be a neat idea.

I bought a Black tree last year at 90% off. I am not really sure what I am going to do with it yet though.

I got several bags of the little plastic candy treat holders pumpkins, 2 different kinds of skeletons, and frankensteins. I also found some coffin shaped candy holders at walmart year before last and I hot glued some purple ribbon onto them so that I could hang them easily. I hung the small plastic glow in the dark skeletons on the tree and found some great halloween ornaments at tjmax last year (they often have ornaments there) and I used halloween garland, and the purple lights for my tree. For a tree topper I had a bit of trouble, but I realized that I had a bat hand puppet and it made the perfect tree topper. I just put it over the top of the tree where u place your hand inside and he was purple and black like my lights and garland. I get so many comments every year about my halloween tree and it's one of my favorite things.
The black and other colored trees sound like a great idea, but I agree I don't know that the ornaments will stand out that well against it. Also places have black Christmas ornaments already (Hobby Lobby Here in TN) and I'm thinking some of these might be nice on it too.

They had a 4 foot halloween tree with skulls around the base at Walgreens. Looked quite nice!
