I've been away from the site for a while. Last August I was diagnosed with
congestive heart failure. (I'm already borderline diabetic as it is!) I spent
four days in the hospital and my doctor trold me I wouldn't be able to work
anymore. Took me till March to get disability. They turned me down the first
time! I hope this Halloween will be better than the last two years.....didn't
see a soul.....living or dead! (Ha! Ha!) Still, being the Halloween fanatic
that I am, I'll keep on decorating each year till the day I die.....and for
weeks there after! Then I'll probably rent my ghost out for Halloween
parties. Get your advance orders in now! (Ha! Ha!)

Welcome back! I hope you have many, many more years of haunting.
Shame that it took two attempts to get your disability. My mother went through the same sort of crap when she couldn't work anymore. Its one of the reasons I love living in the Netherlands. You don't have to fight for your rights for disability or unemployment.

Greetings Halloween Goblin,
I so feel for you as I am going through something quite similar. I'm losing my ability to walk & have chronic pain from the knees down, been progressing now for 5 years & pretty soon I'm sure I won't be able to stand up anymore. Its a mess with the diabetic thing too. I'd be happy if I just did not have this pain every minute of every day, pain meds just ain't workin. Funny ...isn't it when our health starts to fail & we think of all the things we love to do that are coming to an end. I have crying fits occasionally because I know that the day is in site where my decorating is just plain over.......but I'm goin down fighting like hell.
That disability thing is a mess, know my hubby fought with SS for 2 years had to get a lawyer. Funny thing is he worked all his life & then when the health issues went into high gear, & these were issues from him fighting in a war, the VA said its time for him to retire & SS said no its not....our government programs!!lol
You take care of yourself & spend some stress free time in here with us. This is my out, its where I come to relax & enjoy myself with all these fine people & their wonderful friendship & great creativity.
Oh and one more thing....if you decide to start a union of ghosts that hire themselves out for parties and such......call me.......I'm interetsed!

You're right, it's not easy to get disability. The first time they tried to tell me I
could do the same job I did for 25 years. When I did that job I didn't have a
heart condition and it was hard enough on a person in good health! The second
time they called me on the phone and asked me about the job and I
described it down to the tiniest detail. I told them the best way to get a 15-20
pound weight and hold it on a stick the size of a broomhandle for about 10-15
minutes while you slowlly turn it. Then do that 15-20 times in an hour then
multiply it times 9 hours! And that was just the small items! Needless to say,
they agree with me this time.
I still remember that day like it was yesterday. My hands and legs had
swollen up. I couldn't walk across the room without getting winded. They took
x-rays and said I had congestive heart failure. They were going to prescibe
medication and let me go home, but then they took an EKG and told me I was
a massive heart attack waiting to happen! They said if I had let it go any longer
I would have most assuredly died. They wouldn't even let my sister take me to
the hospital! They had an ambulance take me right straight to the emergency
room! I spent four days in the hospital. Tests showed I had a weak heart
muscle and a leaky valve! They took six liters of fluid out of my lungs. They said
I had very little room left! Gee! Look at me rattle on! I'd better end this before
it turns into a newspaper!I never get MAD, I get EVEN! Pray I only get MAD!
