This a pic of a Halloween lantern that belonged to my mom. It's from the 1930's and I suspect made in Germany. It still has old wax in it from candles that it held when my mom was a little girl (she was born in 1928). It's in fair condition with a few areas of worn paint and the paper in one eye poked through.
Anyone else have any vintage Halloween stuff in their collection?

That lantern is gorgeous!
If you send a photo to Mark B Ledenbach he will tell you anything he knows about the item. I have 6 paper Beistle diecuts and a couple TOT bags from the 1960's, and a couple Beistle repro items; a paper table centerpiece and a diecut.

I have a soft spot for all things vintage. I started to collect halloween postcards and am always searching for them. Also have noise makers from the sixties and some cut outs. Love the photo.

Awesome Piece!!! I love it. I have several Vintage LOOKING pieces, you know remakes. I love that look. Brings me back. Not that far back but back from when I was little and all we had to choose from was paper cutouts. That is a great pice, hold on to it and take good care of it
Linus: You've heard about fury and a woman scorned?
Charlie Brown: Yes, I guess I have.
Linus: Well that is nothing compared to the fury of a woman who has been cheated out of tricks or treats!

Wow, that's really cool, and as greatpumpking said, you know it's authentic. I'd say it's probably pretty valuable - do you have it insured?

Thanks. Any idea on how to contact Mark? I'd be interested in his take on this.
Growing up in the 60's my parents had a bunch of Beistle decorations. I'd love to have them now!
I'd like to see pics of your collection. We often go to antique shows and see Victorian Halloween cards offered. I've been tempted to start collecting these too.
Thanks! It's well taken care of. Wrapped in tissue and packed away out of season, and then displayed during Halloween. I've thought of leaving it out all year simply as it's an antique, but it's more special having it out only during Halloween.
I don't have it insured individually as I've never had a market value placed on it. We have it photographed along with other things in our household inventory.

Nice piece. They did a feature one time on antiques Roadshow about vintage Halloween items. Some of them can get pretty pricey.
I used to have all of my 1960's halloween Costumes in my dad's attic, but about 15 years ago my Sister's 3 kids got ahold of them, and they got trashed. Man was I pissed. They were all vintage 1960's Ben Cooper costumes still in the box, and mostly near mint condition.

Jdubbya, I'm working on the pics for you. I started collecting them about two years ago on ebay back when they weren't to pricey. Suddenly the cat is out of the bag and lots of people collect them. My oldest card is postmarked 1903 and it is a Tuck card which is my favorite. Winsch and Clapsaddle were popular around that time also. Some Winsch cards go real steep. Anytime I am at a antique store or flea market I search through the postcards looking for halloween and they are not easy to find. I have put mine in a photo album for safe keeping. My pics I took of them look silly, I need to get them out of the photo album so there is not flash on the pic. Anyway will continue to work on that.
