OK as far as an intro - My wife and I moved from our townhouse to a single home this past month, but still in the same general area.
I'm kind of worried about Halloween this year as I am not sure whether we will get a lot of TOTers and also what the reaction of the neighbors will be if/when I decorate and dress up for TOT. In our old place, we had maybe 100 or so kids every year and they (and their parents) loved our decorations, costumes, music and effects).
My wife tends to think we should just do what we normally do and see how it goes but I am worried we'll do a lot with no kids showing up.
Has anyone else had to deal with moving from what was a 'big' TOT area to one that you're not so sure about? If so, any advice?
If nothing else, I'll have tons of candy to last me through Christmas if no one shows up...........

Have you seen any neighbors? I'd ask them what the TOT is like (maybe wait until the end of September if you're worried about looking too weird)
When we first moved from an apartment to our house, we didn't do anything for Halloween as we went out of town, but we saw lots of houses decorating and even a few that did graveyards or displays of some sort, so we figured this was a decent neighborhood for us to go all out on our decorations the following year.
Really, I kind of agree with your wife - do what you love to do for the kids that show up. You'll thrill them no matter what the number!I'm a Halloween Bride! 10/31/2002

I just pray for you and your wife you diden't move into a neighbor hood where everyone is against Halloween. (not to offend anyone but like those church goers)
Maybe it will twice as much tot's. I wish you guys the best of luck. Keep us updated!halloween is a super cool holiday.

I would ask a neighbor. In our case we came from a neighborhood with zero TOT to one with about 150. Luckly the neighbor ask if we had enough candy the sceond week of october. And I said we have five bags. And he was like you might want to get some more. And I was like how much? A lot. And to think halloween is on friday this year.

Even if you get no trick or treaters a yard haunt is cool just for the fun of it.
From my laboratory in the castle east
To the master bedroom where the vampires feast
The ghouls all came from their humble abodes
To get a jolt from my electrodes

I am going through the same thing now! I moved into my house on November last year. There are alot younger kids in my hood so I am kind of nervous about the parents reaction. Not to mention when we looked at the open house a few days before halloween last year NO ONE even had any props out! Not even one single tombstone! Most of them had some friendly looking pumpkins but nothing very thrilling. O well last year I did'nt haunt because of the move so I am coming full force this year!
