I am making a Halloween themed basket for a fundraiser raffle which will be held in Oct., but I'm having some difficulty deciding what to put into it. The price of all the items would be between $100-150. Would you put just one expensive prop (if so....suggestions?) or a bunch of lesser priced items. The size of the actual basket can be up to laundry basket size. Basically, it has to be of a size one person can carry, so I can't buy like a big heavy prop. You all are very creative..toss me some ideas if you can? Thanks in advance!
I would think that 4 or 5 items would be best, at least that's what I'd be happiest with. Are you wanting props, home decor, novelties, perishables, or a combination? Also, what's the demographic (does it need to be kid or church friendly)?
If it's for an adult group and you don't want it to be cutesy, how about something like a Halloween wreath, some gourmet candies, a pair of painted wine glasses, a lace spiderweb tablecloth, and a nicely framed haunted portrait?

Also for an adult....how 'bout some of that Vampire wine that Freak showed us? Or a really pretty mask, you know the masquerade kind with feathers and fancy fabric and trim? I like Rikki's idea of the wreath and tablecloth, something that they can use again.

things i can think of are small props, decorations, a halloween themed recipe book, different candy samplers, and a lot of the stuff suggested above is really, really good.
its really a matter of what your aiming for, a halloween basket or a haunters basket? o_O
the two can be taken in very different directions...

I think several less expensive items is the way to go, with some inexpensive items combined with some bigger/more expensive stuff. Maybe a $40 thing, a couple $20 items, a ten, a couple fivers.
The suggestions I've seen are great. Maybe a scary book, a gargoyle, a couple Big Lots fake rats ($3 apiece, and they look really good.)
I would think for a general population decor, candy and/or a small prop would be o.k. Also, do you have a Six Flags or some such amusement park near you that does "Fright Nights"? You could put in some admission tickets to that. Would a Lemas Spooky Town piece be out of line? Some combination of these might be fun.

I am aiming it more towards things the gen. population would like (staying away from bloody gore type stuff since it's a cancer benefit). I love all your ideas. What's this Vampire wine? That sounds really cool! Today I bought one of those busts at Michael's (the vampire guy looking one), so Iwill be putting that in there. Then I thought I may do a custom carved funkin, since I'm pretty good at those. Definitlity will be adding somerats/bats/crows. I'm sort of leaning towards a "Haunted House in a box", maybe a strobe light, some webbing, a CD of scary sounds. I at least want to add like a 40 dollar item though. I hope our local mall Halloween stores start opening soon so I can find something excellent to put in it. Thanks for all your suggestions. If you have any more keep em' coming!
