For any old-time model builders out there...

Some cool new (and old) model kits are coming out from Mobius Models and Monarch Models.

Probably the coolest is Gigantic Frankenstien ("Big Frankie") who's big enough to double as a prop. Moebius is also re-issuing the old Monster Scenes. I missed all that stuff the first time around!

And both Monarch and Moebius are doing new kits in the style of the old Aurora models (Moebius' Invisible Man - got mine on order - and Monarch's Nosferatu and Ghost kits.)

I'm just getting into these now - still have a lot to learn, but they're tons of fun. I'm hoping these guys get enough business to stick around for a while.

Yeah, cool. I had some when I was a kid. I helped my son build Dracula when he was little. We still have it.

Gobby - thanks for mentioning these! I actually designed the Invisible Man kit for Moebius - I freelance for them and Polar Lights - my Wolf Man avatar was the first assignment I did for PL.

Here's the link Moebius Models: High Quality Extremely Detailed Plastic Model Kits - you can go the the model news section to see it built up.

Oh, I had all of them when I was a kid. My brothers and I were big model fanatics and we had the creature, Frankenstein's monster, Dr J. Y Mr. H, Dracula, etc. Thanks for the link. I wish I still had them now. Guess I'll have to start collecting all over again.

Amazing stuff, Chris. That's gotta feel pretty cool having something like that out there. And it's good to see the quality of the box art being maintained. That's a big part of the old Aurora kits. It's a shame models don't get the same exposure they did when I was young. Seems like kids don't even know what they are any more. But maybe you and folks like Moebius and Monarch can change that. (I've picked up a couple kits for my brother to build with his son.)

Really looking for to building your kit - do you know if it's shipping yet? (I gotta say I've got a soft-spot for the old monster dragster kits though. I think Dracula's Dragster is my favourite out of the few I've got so far.)

Thanks again, and keep up the good work. I'll wait.

Thanks, it is a real blast. I've been freelancing for years and have designed a few kits, but the Invisible Man is the first that I proposed and designed from the ground up.
We'd love to see a younger audience for the kits but every generation has their own hobbies - of course things like what you did for your nephew can only help!
Last I heard - about 2 weeks ago - the kits were bagged and ready for boxing.
Scott from Monarch said that the glow Nosferatu was on the dock ready to ship, but they were waiting for "The Ghost" to finish production so they shipped in the same container. Cool kits, worth the wait.
Did you get a Godzilla's Go-Kart before Toho had them pulled from the shelves? I think it is the most successful, design-wise, of the "monster rods".

Nope, didn't get the Godzilla. I just picked up my first few kits in the spring (Dracula's Dragster, Frankie's Flivver, and the Mummy's Chariot. Still need the Wolfman) when I stumbled into a store that had all three on display. I've also picked up the Mr. Hyde kit, and I'm tempted to pick up a Nosferatu kit if I can find one.(The Ghost looks pretty cool too.) I'm a classic monster kinda guy so it's a nice fit for me.

I just signed up at Hobby Talk the other day (kinda what prompted my post here). But I'm mostly a lurker. I haven't built any kits since my Star Wars models in the 70s, and I think I did a better job when I was 8. Still fun though.
