I do believe my parents are also responsible for my love of Halloween. They were in the kooky uber religious phase back then so I lost many of years as a kid. I guess I'm making up for lost years now

You are lucky. My parents would never let me watch R rated horror films.

Ditto. They did let me watch horror from a young age, but Halloween was never really something big for them. I went trick or treating, or to school "disco's", but that was as far as it went in childhood.

My mom was the one into Horror movies, but my dad loved Halloween. We would build coffins out of left over wood, put up tombstones and would always have that stuffed guy with the cheezy mask sitting in a lawn chair, and my dad would talk through a speaker behind chair so kids thought the guy was really talking.
Compared to the stuff people do today it was really pretty lame, but me and my brother loved it! Dad is in his 70's now but still drops by to help with our props now and then, and he is always here for Halloween.

So YES. My brother and I both do big yard haunts ourselves now.

My dads family was kind of big about. I'm only 14 and I've bought all of the halloween decorations myself.

"She did it!" *points finger at sister*.

She was 10 years older, so she got to have a 'second childhood' with me in helping pick out costumes and taking me TOT. A couple of years we'd take out the storm window on the front screen door, cover with crepe paper (remember, this was the mid-'70s) and pass the candy through with fake rubber hand-glove. That's where I first got a taste of scaring people! Kids were so easy to scare back then...

My mom loves Halloween and still helps me decorate today.

Also, I have twin uncles that were only 7 years older than me. After my mom would take us trick or treating, my uncles would take me and my brother out a second time.

On top of that my birthday is in October.

Definitely! I started celebrating Halloween in the late 50's through the 60's in southwestern Pennsylvania so I enjoyed the small town Halloween parades with my dad and grandfather, wearing a costume to school, trick-or-treating in a neighborhood where every house handed out homemade treats or full-size candy bars, and sneaking down to the gameroom to check out the costumes at my parents' party. Mom handled most of the costuming but Dad would come up with some good ideas sometimes. We didn't really decorate other than a jack-o-lantern and maybe something on the front door. The over-the-top decorating for the holiday is inspired by my Mom though since she always used to do Christmas to the point of excess.
