Thread: saloon or jail?

I am doing a western shack complete with outlaws of the old west. I will have firepit for the chuckwagon. We are going to build a shack so should the shack be a jail or a saloon both I think are good Ideas and both have the pros and cons. THe biggest difference I think will be the women of the old west. If it is a saloon we need to do saloon girls. If it is a jail the women can be women outlaws. What to do?

Jail. Good place for skeletons. Too bad about everybody leaving those poor prisoners unattended and without any food and water...

I think jail too, you can do some spooky stuff with it. I had a jail scene once and I called the local sheriff's dept. and advised I was doing a charity haunt and if they had any old prisoner uniforms they didn't want I would take them off their hands...they gave me black and white striped uniforms and they were great!

It would be much easier to do a jail.

It would be more creative to do a saloon.

I'd probably lean towards the jail, only because I'm kind of lazy that way, but I'd be really interested in seeing how far a haunted saloon could go...

I think a Saloon would be awesome and fun, you could do a ton of stuff with Beer, Poker, Dancing, Music.. like the movie tombstone

I thought it was g to saloon first and then go to jail.LOL

i would go for jail, it has more a halloween feel then a happy, peppy, dancing hall/saloon.

I think a saloon would be cooler, although more of a challenge.

As far as the gals if you had them behind the bar you would only have to deal with costumes for the top half. You might be able to pull off decorating up a plain womans tank top with lace and then place a lace shawl over your shoulders.

I like the saloon idea, provided you are planning a haunted one. You could have a dummy slumped over a table with either a bullet through its head or a (fake) broken bottle nearby, skeletons playing cards, cobwebs stretched out across the place to make it look like it's been left neglected for a long time, etc. Just some suggestions.
