What are people using for a Flying Crank Ghost motor these days? I don't think the 6 rpm Dayton motor is available any more.

I've seen a DC gear motor that might work, but the thing costs $72. Is that the going rate for this sort of thing?

I used a motor off of a Christmas deer with the rotating head..seems to work fine too...if you can find an animated deer prop this time of year! Skullboy's right too, a rotiserrie motor will work too.

I am using a motor from a broken oscillating fan (the part that controls the oscillation is slow and actually completes a full 360˚ if you remove the parts). It runs at about 5-6 rpms.

Last year I used a wiper motor running off a PC power supply. At the lowest voltage it ran just a little fast but lots of power. This year I may try to float something heavier like the Talking Boris skull.
