I was looking at the $5 bin at Walmart and found some movies that might be good for a prize basket - What do you think??
Devil's Advocate
Bram Stoker's Dracula
The Bone Collector
War of the Worlds
Scooby-Doo Monsters unleashed
I bought them, but I am in a phase of 'Buy it now - You can always return it'

Sounds like a good idea to me...I'm in preparation mode now for prize baskets for my Halloween kids party. I never thought about those $5 bin's at Wal-Mart. I'll have to poke around in them.
Great little idea natachaWhy rule the living when you can control the dead.

That's what I've done for the costume winners prizes each year (except the Best Overall, they get a big prize basket). When I'm looking through the DVDs I try to get ones that are good movies but that people probably don't own unless they're horror movie buffs. I've been fortunate enough that no one has got a movie that was already in their collection.

Even better than the $5 bin at walmart is the $3 bin at big lots.

I've done this before! I usually did it based on my party theme. When I did the demented circus, I gave the dvd, Killer Klowns from Outer Space.

Hey I would love to get a horror DVD as a prize at a party! I think they are a great idea.

It is a cool idea. One of these Halloweens I might do that.

Hmm it all depends. Are you looking to give to give them to trick or treaters or guest at your party? If your looking to give them to tot's I woulden't go with horror themed ones just because there pearents might not like them for them so I'd stick with scobby doo or those cartoon ones.
If you giving them out to older kids- high school and up, then the horror ones are okay.
Party guest- do as you please. :-)
But all in all it's not a bad idea. But even the $5.00 and the $3.00 dollar movies can run up a bill quite a bit. Can I make a suggestion? If you have a dollar tree they sometimes put those kinds of movies out, maybe you could check there's out and if you like them order a larger quanity from the store. :-)halloween is a super cool holiday.

I let the guests pick their prizes off of a table when they win games etc... The $1 DVD's from Walgreens have been picked before the $8 bottles of Wine. Always shocks me, I'd pick the booze first!
