So I'm looking to get a low-lying fog machine this year and was wondering which one is the best to get. Any help would be amazing.

well if you want a GOOD low lying fog machine, be preapared to spend. you can get the gemmy low fog machine at walmart for like $40, but I have it and it's only good indoors. The fog dosn't have enough time to chill so when you take it outside it disipates really fast. I don't recomend it for outdoors. now there are some good ones. The most well known is the DJ Mister Kool. Here he is DJ Equipment - American DJ Mister Kool Low Lying Fog Machine - American Audio Mister, Kool, Cool, ICE, FOG, Fogger, Machine, Haze, Halloween, Effect - DJ LIGHTING - Platinum Records Lights and Sound Online DJ Store
now he's alright but heres another. I've posted this one on a thread before.
it's probaly one of the best ever. but look at the price tag
    Martin / Jem Glaciator X-Stream
and heres a nice video of it YouTube - Jem Glaciator X-Stream do some searches on google you might be able to find a good deal on some of them. you can get a good deal on some that are used.
    Can you stake my heart?

And, then there's the build your own chiller option. Many designs out there. Just get as much fog in contact with as much ice for as long as possible in the most general sense. Designes range from those styrofoam fish coolers to garbage cans. Bigger fogger you have, the bigger chiller you need.

But, what you really need to decide is how much fog do you want in how big of an area.

I've personally found several smaller foggers works better for my purposes than fewer larger ones. I like to have areas where the effect stands out. If you're wanting to blanket an entire area in fog, however, bigger ones are probably better.

My experience with the $20 or $40 WALLY WORLD foggers is that they do not work outside, due to the fact the weather is just plain too cold here for them to heat up. If it's typically 60 while trick or treating, they might just work for you. But, I get to see as many coats as costumes around here. I did manage to get one such fogger kinda sorta working one year by placing it in a cooler and wrapping it in blankets to keep it warm. It worked so long as I kept the timer on the shortest burst with a long interval. Gave up on it after that.

800 Watt foggers from Spirit/Spencers have served me well for spot fogging. No troubles yet. And, they're fairly cheap near/after Halloween.

I have been very happy with my $20 Wally World special and a trash can/drier duct chiller. Cheap, effective. What every home haunter could ever want!

Placement is everything though and wind will kill even the best chilled fog. but bushes and damp grass will help retain the fog longer. Just something to keep in mind.

Hmm Okay. Well I changed my mind on the whole yard effect thing...
now I just want to have it in the dark tunnle that you have to go through to get the front door. I'm hoping it will work this way. I'll have a structure of 12 pvc pips in tottal and black sheets closing in as the walls. Which brings me to my next question, does anyone know if they make colord fog? Cause I'v read that dye in a fog machine is really bad.

Only way to color fog is with lighting. It reflects whatever colored light REALLY well, though.

Otherwise, you would need to look into smoke machines to get a colored substance.

Yeah they dont. It would be really cool if they did. just use a light to give it some color. i've heard theres fog fluid that glows in a black light but i could never find after the first time. They do make fog with scents though!
