Anyone else have a Touch or iPhone with the new iTunes Remote? This thing will be much fun once I get a bunch of mp3's saved in my iTunes.
You have full WiFi remote control over iTunes, including the volume control! I can be about 5 houses away, and control itunes threw speakers in my garage or wherever I decide to put them.....

You need to do the 2.0 Firmware update threw iTunes (which you need the latest 7.7 version as well to download)
It's a 9.95$ update (+tax so really 10.5x something) but I really wanted the iTunes remote and also the Pandora application, so I went for it.
My wife has a Touch as well, so I likely will have to drop another 10$ for hers to upgrade.
My Touch was previously Jail-broken, so lost all the free stuff, but there is enough in the app store for free to make up for it.

I also have the ipod touch and I was wondering how you get WIFI several houses away? We have Apple WiFi and I can't even get a signal in the bathroom!
The new firmware also has the ability for AIM chats which I just love. You just have to go to the App Store and download it for free. I haven't tried the remote yet but might.

Yeah, my iTouch doesn't reach five houses away using our wi-fi...I am however lucky enough to tap into others' wi-fi, which I guess could do the same. I know it is pathetic, but I got the 2.0 update the other day and downloaded tap tap revenge...SO MUCH FUN FOR FREE!!! hahaha...sorry off-topic...

I'm running a typical older style Linksys G router (WRT54G) but have flashed the firmware with DD-WRT (Main Page - DD-WRT Wiki) You get a bunch more options, but the one I did it for was to bump the wireless output to 251 mW from 70ish I think stock is? I got the info for the firmware upgrade from the eBay auction actually, as at first I was just looking for some better antenna's...
I also picked up some higher output antennas off of eBay
7dBi 10' RP-TNC Hotspot Kit for Linksys WRT54G WRT54GL - eBay (item 200238645551 end time Jul-22-08 14:08:31 PDT)
but not sure if they really helped, or not. I was not trying to get better range for the iPod Touch, I was trying to get a better signal for my wife's laptop upstairs as she was complaining of slow connection speeds.
I can usually wander down about 4-5 houses until I loose the signal completely.

I don't use Aim, but the google chat I use all the time. It's just google.com/talk....all it is is a browser session set up to fit the Touch\iPod....works great. I just save the shortcut to my desktop.
