This cake took less than 2 hours to make.
Take different size plates and trace onto cardboard make 2 each (top and bottom).
Then take and cut one long stretch of cardboard for your sides.
Take the long stretch of cardboard and tape it to the circle and start wrapping and tapping around the circle. look like this 9 as you are going around. Then flip over and tape the top to the long stretch of cardboard.
I use ducttape because it really holds good. Once I have everything together, I go back and cover the whole thing in ducttape for more added holding power.
I used spray paint and paint pens to decorate.

drywall mud put on with an icing knife to look like frosting would be cool.
No one can make you do anything you don't want to do, right?
