We have been haunting for 9 years now and still can t come up with a name that sticks! In the past we have put out posters calling ourselves "Frigtmares" and "Fear Factory" I originally wanted to go with "Monstermaze" cause we have the mummy frankenstine, dracula. We also have a witch room, a carnEvil area , torture chamber and aliens. "haunted House" doesn't seem to be the right title. what names did you go thru before you settled. and any Ideas for me???

ok I had been doing "yard haunts" if you will for quite a few years. Then in 2001 It got a little bigger but still it remained a strobe light scary music and me handing out treats. At about 4:30 on October 31, 2001 I came up with Horror on Harmon. See I live on Harmon Ave. I made a sign out of cardboard and spray paint that first year. I now have a professional made sign, and as they say the rest is history.

Here are few ideas that work well for your type of haunt.

I would suggest a name associated with your familiy name or street, it helps people find you, and creates consitency, so they remember you, allows you to build a reputation.
Then use a tag line based on that years theme or icon character of your haunt

    Couple of examples.
    Insert your family name Manor
    "Curse of the Mummy"

    Nightmare on "your street name"
    "Carni of Evil"

Lobo is exactly right! After 9 years find a name and stick with it. The first year 2001, I had 25 tots. Last year We had over 1,000 tots. Now granted starting in 2003 we made this into more of a haunted house then trick or treat.
I make flyers and since 2005 we use tag lines like lobo suggests. The only difference is I just borrow a line from a movie or something. Here is what we used.
    HORROR ON HARMON
    '05-The Night They Came Home
    '06-They Can Smell Your Fear
'07- Blood Is Only Skin Deep But Fear Goes To The Bone
'08- Still working on this one

Scorpio- if your still looking for a tagline for this year, you cant get any better than The Strangers:

"We tell ourselves there's nothing to be afraid of. Sometimes we're wrong."

There is a mountain in our area called Dead Wood. The road into the larger town comes over Dead Wood, and it's a well known name locally. So this year I am hoping to get the group to stick the name The Dead Woods to our haunt. Also a little tag line, "come if you dare, leave if you can." Again, as the others have said, incorporate something from your area or your family name.
So come up to the lab and see what's on the slab.
