Does anyone ever feel they go over board with the blood and guts? We have always had no blood in our haunts. I used to show people coming to our haunt that the only blood they would see is the gel blood they seen on my skull fountian and that was right by the entrance. So fake looking that no-body would be afraid of that. I used to tell them that they wouldn t see any thing in side my haunt that they didn t see in the stores ! Except it would look better cause of the surroundings. Now I want to step up the scare factor this year and I wonder.. how much blood and gore do I need. if any. And what experences has any one had with little kids and grafic scenes?

I would say that only about 10% of my haunt has what I would define as gore! Granted, the stuff I have that is gory iss pretty bad and looks very real. I dont want to overdue it with the gory stuff but I am not affraid to use it.

Gore can be great when used properly, but it is easy to go overboard.

I agree, having gore everywhere you turn is not the way to go. Gore needs to be placed in the correct spot so you have that surprise/scare affect you are looking for. Gore everywhere is just boring.

I like to keep them on thier toes with an eclectic mix, one minute is happy dancing monsters and bubble machines and the next minute your in hell with the devil ripping someones innards out.

We have never gone gore. I think of our haunt as something Vincent Price would have appreciated, not Rob Zombie. (not that there is anything wrong with that)

I just like the idea of every age appreciating my display. There are ways to scare the older kids, but keep things okay for the little ones. It is hard to turn the gore off.

Ravens Grin= No Gore –

20 yrs. now open almost every night of the year plus Sat. and Sun. afternoons,(That is one long "season"!) No Gore.
I make fun of gore in one area with red paint splashed around with a sign warning "Don't touch, sticky red-stuff!"
I personally have never seen gore as being scary, sickening maybe, but that isn't scary.
If it's MY blood, then it's real scary!
I think if the majority of October entertainment focused on providing fun, memorable, creative entertainment with screams and startles finishing with the scared customer laughing at the scare because what just "Got" them was so silly, common or stupid, then a great many more people would be actively financially supporting such efforts as herein described.
I have been told countless times of the main reasons people have not returned to see "Haunted" Entertainment are gore, chainsaws, an actor being way too close into their personal space.
Does this mean I don't scare anyone here?
I have scared many people who are and have been haunt owners for many years because I Don't do what most of the rest of them do...and this scares them, removes their predictability/comfort zone-thing.
Of course a great many others who get scared here become unnerved by being in a dark room with a person who is definately crazed...

I have to agree with about eerything Gym had tosay andI have to admit, I dont think Gore ever scared anyone. I wonder if the gore is more for me then for my visitors? I think I really like the way some of the higher end gore props look!

I'm anti-gore (don't like it and don't believe in it because of my Bible beliefs) and get really bore of it in the movies, it seems way overdone, looks stupid most of the time. The scariest movies and scenes of all time never have any gore. Gore to me just looks cheesy and cheapens the scene. I'm into suspense, mystery and some fun creepy stuff. I would rate my decor PG, but may move to PG-13 (still no blood or gore) with the kids getting a little older around here.
