Hi all,
Want to tap those creative minds of yours. I've recently bought the domain name of www.howl-o-ween.com and I am in the process of building the site.
I plan on have pictures (We all love pictures), but I also want some ideas for other content.
So here goes...What would you like to see on a Halloween website? (This should be fun!).

Anything original and unique would be good. Really anything that reflects why you like Halloween would be the best.

I want to do some interactive stuff and I want the site to be unique. I've done a first pass on the header and links. See below. When you mouse over a bat, the wings open up and the Owl tells you where this link takes you. This was all created in Photoshop and the background image can be seen in my album. The photoshop album contains my original images.
Any ideas will be greatly appreciated.Spectorized

A whittled down list of how-to's. Not just a mass listing that you have to sort out to find the best how-to. A list of the best way of doing a particuliar prop. You have already done the the reader the favor of doing the research and you have determined that this is the best way to make a MIB, this is the best way to corpse a skellie, a fog chiller etc.

A list of pumpkin carving tips, tips for pumpkin preservation, and some free patterns.
Fog Machine tips or information directing you to other sites... Making cheap Chillers (that'd fall under props)
Lists of themes and decorating and costume ideas
A list of "scare tactics"

I kind of had a different idea in mind. There are lots of sites now that have the standard fare. I want to make it something fun. (I'll have the standard fare as links). I want something more interactive.
Some of the ideas I had are:
A Murder mystery where you search the site for clues then enter your solution.
Online halloween scavenger hunt (with surprises)
Haunted online trail or online haunt
All suggestions and ideas are welcome.Spectorized

Sounds interesting, and lookin' pretty so far.
You could have a Halloween question and answer section where people could write in, or just a "letters" section, too...*

You could always have a seance. Then I played a game years ago where you had to go into a haunted house and find three pieces of an urn. There was three floors and you were chased by ghosts, bats, and spiders. The only way you could get out of the haunted house was to
find the urn and put it together. I always would get the urn and set it in front of the exit, then
get the ghost to chase me back to the main hall, where I would grab up the urn and run out the door at the last minute. I like the scavenger hunt , the online trail, and the murder mystery. You could always have people tell ghost stories, both true or ones they make up.I never get MAD, I get EVEN! Pray I only get MAD!

Elza....just wanted to say that no matter what you put in there you are going to enjoy it & as you move along you will find more things to add to it. I started with a small site & I love working on my site, its turned into a real hobby. I do some writing in there that keeps the "Collinwood 841" storyline going all year between Halloweens & Mistress Muffy is the main character living through her trials & tribulations in the haunted Collinwood Manor. Each season the story developes & leads into what my haunt will be for the season.
My site is full of fact & fiction interwining with each other which keeps the local people here that visit my haunt during Halloween in much suspence. Its continually a work in progress. Next I will be scanning photos of halloween past. I also am planning a section that takes you to meet the ghosts of where I'm from. So I'm gathering info now about Bachelors Grove Cemetery & Resurrection Mary & also my scary scene contest entry which was a part true story of the Buthcer of Palos Hills, all found in Chicago.
I started with a free site, then I bought my domain name & now I upgraded to a pay site that gives me a lot of room for pictures. My main interest in life is cooking so I have a good size recipe section which continues to grow & I hope to convert into "recipes & entertaining". We are building a "how to" project section but I'm a bit behind with that. Jer has to sit down & go thru the pics with me so I can write what he was doing.
I post all of Larry's Halloween Forum contests on there & if we enter the contest I post pictures & such. My web site is based on the series, "Dark Shadows", as I grew up with that soap opera & paid a dear price because my maiden name is "Collins", the kids at school tortured me for that!lol
I own a small candy business that is named "Collins Chocolates" & I intervene that into the site story. I have a links sections that houses my favorite sites & also my business candy site that is getting ready to open this fall, so I use it for both halloween stuff & business. I have a lot of room on my site since I upgraded. It cost me $4.95 a month & I think 10 or 20 bucks a year for my domain. Its an easy site for me as I can add info in there all the time.
The thing you will enjoy the most is being able to follow whatever halloween related interest you have & making a section for it. Good luck with your site & I look forward to seeing it & watching it grow. As you open it...... pretty soon the ideas will really start to flow!
