This year I am planning to do a western/cowboy scene. I think I would like to have some kind of shack "where dead cowboys dwell" or maybee make inot a miniture saloon. I want to make it out of pallets I know I can score plenty of pallets. Does anyone know of someone who has done this before or similar concept, I would love to see pics or how to's. Thanks.

Some roof rafters for durability and ease of construction.
Or a shack could have an almost flat tin roof, angling to shed rain, make the low end on a side that doesnot have a door so rain doesn't get accumulated and dumped down the back of someone's neck as the walk in and out.
Using pallets can be a real learning experience. Some pallets are made from brittle wood that will defy nails and many screws, you would have to drill a pilot hole first to have a chance of success.
Small nails used to fasten the strips to cover the spaces will be impossible to nail without pre-drilling.
Inspect the interior when completed and grind off any nail points sticking through, sometimes a good pair of side cutters will work well or even a small Dremel tool.
Make some 2 by 4 tent stakes , drive then into the gound with a sledge hammer and screw through the walls into these stakes to secure it, of course the position of these stakes will have to be fairly precise.
