This may have been dicussed already, if not, Home Depot is closing several stores. Two close to me are closing. I was at one a couple of weeks ago and items were marked down 30% to 60% off. I'm going today to load up on PVC tubing and fittings for making armatures.

Hmmmmmm, what else might one look for to build props? I'll look for styrofoam sheeting for tomb stones, but it's probably all gone by now.

Wow, the prices will be awesome but it sucks to lose Home Depot. I'll have to see if the two near me will be closing.

    I'd look for:
    carpet latex
    paint
    decorative wood appliques
    solar lights
    flood / spot lights
    luan (very thin wood panels)
    concrete form tubes
any tools that you don't already have

I'm sure there are a ton of other things that I'm not thinking about right now. Man, I could have a field day in one of these sales!

I read that Home Depot is closing 15 of it's worst performing stores and that most of those are in the "rust belt" states.

I live in Corpus Christi and I don't think they'll ever close a Home Depot or the Lowe's stores---they make a killing anytime a hurricane enters the gulf.

Sweet! They're closing one in Frankfort...about a 30 minute drive for me and I still get to keep the two that are in town! Maybe I can get in on the deals to be had. Thanks HH.

No prob. Be sure to factor in the gas it will take to drive 30 miles. If you get 20 MPG, it'll cost you roughly $12 in gas alone to get there and back. I'm sure you've thought of that already, but you really have to factor that in these days. If you plan to buy a lot of stuff, then it's probably worth it.

Hmmm...23.2 miles....car gets 30 mpg....gas is currently $3.87 per gallon....I think it's worth it if things are at least 40% off. I really need to add to my prop building arsenal so, yes, I'll be buying quite a bit. I'll have to call ahead of time and see when their last business day will be and what the current discount is.

Wow, 30 MPG and $3.87 per gallon. I'm too jealous!!! My fuel efficient car gets 14 MPG and gas is $4.25 per gallon here in Chicago.
