I am considering NOT having a haunt this year and I was looking for some advice if I decided to sell everything off. First, let me say that I have thousands of dollars invested in this stuff and I am wise enough to know that I will never get my money back but I am okay with that. My family and I have had years of enjoyment and made some great memories.
That being said, would you try to sell it all at once on Ebay, CraigsList, the paper or some other way? It seems to me that "pick-up only" would be the way to go but do you think that people would be willing to pay shipping on several shipments? The animated and static props alone would have to be shipped seperately.
Lastly, how do you put a price on something so large? I have so many animated props (Gemmy and others) and body parts and costumes and fog machines and accesories ... I don't even know where to start.
Any advice is greatly appreciated.

Dont do it! You may regret it. Wait until September and if you still want to sell it, youll get more for it.

If you MUST sell... –

You haven't specified just what you've got or how large it is, S.B. One strategy I've heard of that's supposed to work for selling most any sort of collection is to do it in lots. That way you can get rid of a bunch of smaller, less desireable items by selling them in a lot with one or two more valuable items. I think that JonnF3's suggestion to wait until Halloween is closer is probably a good idea.
Good luck!Mark McG.
It seemed like a good idea at the time.

Hmm... You're located in the south? I've got a truck... fear not - I'll take it all off your hands and you don't even have to charge me

I also agree, even if you decide not to do a haunt, will you regret later down the road if you sell all of it? And if you really do wish to sell it, closer to halloween will bring more $$ your way!

I'll definitely wait until the end of the summer if I decide to sell. I just needed advice because we are cleaning out our attic and garage this weekend and I have no idea how to sort this stuff to get the most money. We are having a yard sale in August and I was thinking maybe I should offer the masks and costumes in the yard sale?

Mark appears to be a very intelligent person... mostly because I agree 100%. I would wait as well, but if you do decide to sell, sell it off in lots. One massive lot for hundreds or even thousands of dollars will scare off most people, but numerous smaller lots will entice many people who may have an interest in some of your larger items.
I also highly suggest listing them on this forum first in the appropriate section. What better place to try and sell off Halloween items?
