Louis' song is at the 29:34 mark. I can't really tell what he's singing because the narrator is talking over the song through most of it. I don't think it is Jeepers creepers though. The only lyrics I can really understand are:
something - (spooks maybe) "are having their midnight fling".....
scroll down to number 121. It's called The Skeleton In The Closet. One source i found says that video clip is from the Bing Crosby movie "Pennies from Heaven". "Armstrong plays Henry, a hired musician at the Haunted House Cafe". It is also on one of the shares called "The Haunted House" that I made at my Halloween blog HERE.
I wonder if Armstrong ever did an all halloween themed LP. I found a lot of songs in the search just now. "Jeepers Creepers", "Old Mose", "Spooks", and this one "The Skeleton in The Closet". It says this song came from an LP called "Highlights of His Decca Years". I see it contains 3 of the 4 songs I listed above. Wow. I see that's a 2 CD set, and that Rhapsody page let's you listen to every song.
How does that Rhapsody playlist work? Is it only through the Rhapsody player? If there is a playlist one can save as txt, an Orbit downloader can import it and download them for you. Like it works on Multiply. Just curious, I haven't used Rhapsody before, and it's a nifty page.
BTW, I have that Louis Armstrong song if anyone wants it, PM me.
Also, Jeepers Creepers, Old Man Mose and a few others were made by a lot of artists back then, as far as I know Louis was just one of them but he's so popular a lot of people think of him first. He never made a Halloween album according to his discography.
I'm not sure. It maybe only I can see the shares because I signed up with them a long time ago. I've never used them enough though to know how they work. I think you get 20 free downloads when you sign up, and then after that you pay? Don't recall. Sorry.
Halloweiner, YOU have my favorite blog ever. I believe I got my Halloween Stomp from you. YOU rock.
I have been thinking of sharing some Halloweenish (read: spooky or morbid) swing/jazz I have from the 30s/40s... none of the songs are on Halloween Stomp or the Haunted House. But not knowing if it's all public domain or not... I'm not ever sure how to find out.
In any case...not to be off the topic, but I'll take this opportunity to thank you for all the great shares on your sites. Priceless treasures!
