My hubby and I are into a game called geocaching. Think scavenger hunting with a GPS. Well every year we throw a huge Halloween eat and greet for our members. Invite them over to our haunted house. Last year we had 75 members to attend.
Ok this year my hubby and I would like to work on a geocache that is halloween themed with a twist. The geocachers will use the GPS to locate the container we hide in the woods. Our thoughts are to hide one container in the woods. The geocacher will have to activate a switch. Then within a certain time limit, locate the 2nd container. If the geocacher, does not locate the geocache within (said) time, he must go back to the 1st container and reactivate, start all over.
Inside the container once they get it open, we are thinking about having a jack n the box effect. (something that jumps out at them).
Now my question to you, what would you use to make this happen?
I am looking for some type of timer device, that obviously works wireless.
I have no idea about the jack-in-the-box, but a group of friends and I went geocaching on our 4-wheelers and it was an INSANE amount of fun. It covered an entire hunting club, and we were searching for prizes ranging from a pair of cheap binoculars, to a Coleman stove, all the way to a $400 shotgun. The participants had no idea what prize was at what coordinates. You just choose one and went after it. If you weren't happy with the treasure, you took off to find the next one. If that prize had already been claimed, it was possible to spend too much time looking for it so you had to use your best judgment. It was the most fun I had all year.
Because this was sponsored by the club, the gifts were pretty fancy, but if we do it again on our own, I'm sure I would be just as happy to find bags of Tootsie Rolls or something. It was THAT MUCH fun.
