Hi all. I am in a position to build a two car garage. I was hoping to get input from those of you who presently use one for haunting or as a workshop. Any recommendations on size, ceilings, etc.. useful for haunting or prop building? I was thinking 30x30 would be large enough for 2 cars and a work area. All suggestions are welcome. Thanks.

eyedoc check out our garage the link is in my signature. We use a little over 1/3 of the garage for our haunt. I'm not sure of the dimensions of the whole garage but we fit my Silverado crew cab, hubby's Impala, Gold Wing and Vulcan, plus one side is lined with cabinets and shelves and the back of the garage has the work bench and cabinets all the way across. I'll see if I can get dimensions for you later.

Well, depends on your budget, number of cars, etc., but if mine wasn't attached, I'd be adding on a 3rd bay. My two car garage just doesn't cut it. Whenever I go out to work on a project or one of my cars, I have to pull out a car. It's a pain. and leaves me with little storage and work space. If you can afford it and have the space, I highly recommend a 3rd bay.

My recommedation: don't have a wife.
I have a two car garage...my cars are parked in the driveway.
It is a storage shed...it doesn't store important things like halloween props...it stores things like plates and dishes that we've never used, baby clothes that are too small for our baby, craft supplies that we don't need, etc.

Thanks for the advice. Can’t build wider but I can possibly go 40’ deep. And can’t give up the wife, too good to me and puts up with my Halloween obsession. Quite a large garage you have there maleficent. You really had to move some stuff around prior to Halloween , huh.

Build a loft/mezzanine. Enclosed, lockable area for some stuff underneath.

Bethene I love the pics. You under black light is awesome. I think Im going to do that in my sons haunted house. Do the white dress under black light holding a candle at the end of a long dark hallway and just walk towards them. Love it very cool
Linus: You've heard about fury and a woman scorned?
Charlie Brown: Yes, I guess I have.
Linus: Well that is nothing compared to the fury of a woman who has been cheated out of tricks or treats!

I don't know how high you can build in your area but a second floor window in the peak is always a good spot for the crank ghost

And having usable attic space in the garage is good from the storage perspective.
Not sure if it was here or another forum but one members parents were building a big garage and the second floor was being dedicated as a workshop
