Alright. Today was a beautiful day here. needed something to do, so I drug my stones and columns out and decided to try the aging/weathering thing to give them a distinct look. I'm not exactly sure as to what I was going to expect, as I was not sure what I was doing.

I did the hose technique, hosed the tombstones and columns down then spray painted it, and lightly rinsed. While they were still wet, I lightly went over the whole thing with flat black spray paint to give it some highlights...

Please let me know what ya think...too much, not enough...what should I do differently or anything.

Picture 1...One column aged, and one not to show the contrast:

    Both aged/weathered:

I think the weathering turned out great. I wouldn't change a thing.

Alright... I painted a section of fence real quick tonight too...just so I could get an idea of what the whole thing will look like. I only put one section up , but I got 4 sections all together. I think they will look good together. Still need to come up with finials for the fence. I like the skull whistles. Just need to find out where to get them. The long opst in the middle that goes down to the ground is where I'll have my rebar in for support along the 40' fence, about every 4' I think.

    CMG:

Awesome job on the weathering, I wouldn't do another thing, they are perfect.

"The enemy of good is better."

(A saying by an MD friend of mine, meaning when you have a good result...like in a complicated medical procedure...don't mess it up by trying to make it better)

And when we originally made our cemetery fence (which is nowhere near as nice as yours, just warnin' ya) I couldn't get the skull whistles, (every supplier was sold out), so at the last minute I made finials by cutting black craft foam into an arrowhead shape and sticking them down in the PVC. Looked OK. Better in the dark

$20 for 144 of them. Don't buy all of 'em, I'm gonna buy some too this year

Those are some sweet columns, CMG. I was gonna' give an idea for the finials, but MHooch beat me to it. And, don't forget to put a red bulb in that light post in your front yard on the big day. I love the tombstones, also. How did you carve the Freemason stone?
