I think you should run, not walk, RUN, to your nearest video store and rent the House of Wax with Vincent Price. That said, yes that is a cool idea for a Haunt.

I find it morally unethical to support the acting career of Paris Hilton in any way, shape, or form. We must all work together to put an end to this perverse abomination once and for all. So, like Succub'Oz suggested, would you please go rent the Vince Price classic and watch it quickly to cleanse your eyes of what you have seen. Do it for us. Do it for yourself. Do it for the Great Mr. Price.

Definately go see the old one. It has all the great movie elements you need for a haunt: the conflicted and crazed artist, murder, revenge, and whole museum of creepy statues depicting violent crime. Its great!

Oh, and just to clear the air, I think you should see all the originals. It seems like over the past few years there have been a lot of remakes of classic horror movies. And most of the ones I've seen are not nearly as good. I'm sure I'll miss some, but I would start with:

The Haunting (1963, black and white, and just like the book--that's where my avatar and signiture quote came from.)
The House on Haunted Hill (1959,another Vincent Price classic, plus a lady gets boiled in acid--classic.)
13 Ghosts (1960.a little hoaky, but still kind of fun--oh and in the theater you needed special glasses to see the ghosts!)
---And my brain just drew a blank....I know there are lots more; I'm sure that people in the forum here will give you some suggestions.

I saw this on last night...wanted to watch it, but once is enough for me. There's only one part on that movie that grosses me out. It's right after the one guy gets covered in wax and placed at the piano, and his friend comes in and peels his cheek off while he is still alive. He couldn't scream or move or anything.....god I hate that part!

never seen the Vincent Price version...Have to check that out.

Could be a good idea for a haunt but a lot of work I would think.

The effects and the storyline were interesting and the best part, of course, was watching Paris go bye-bye. The original is superior.

However, I would LOVE to have the $$$$$$$ and space to do a version of this for Halloween.

EEEEEE! The part where the girl is sticking up her fingers through the grate and they get cut off and she can't scream makes my hair stand on end!
You remind me of the babe. What babe? The babe with the power. What power? The power of voodoo. Who do? You do. Do what?

By all means get the Vincent Price version, it is by far the best. And I think that is an excellent idea for a haunt.

Let's see, some more original movies that were better than the remakes:

    House of Wax (1953)
Invasion of the Body Snatchers (1958)
    War of the Worlds (1953)
    The Haunting (1963)
    Psycho (1960)
    Dracula (1931)
Night of the Living Dead (1968)
    Halloween (1978)
The Texas Chain Saw Massacre (1974)
    The Fly (1958)
    The Hitcher (1986)
    The Amiteyville Horror (1979)
    The Stepford Wives (1975)
    The Omen (1976)
    When a Stranger Calls (1979)
The Thing (From Another World) (1951)
    The Blob (1958)
    Village of the Damned (1960)

    IMHO, of course!

Love the original Omen!! The othe part that bothered me in House of Wax was the akilles Tendant (sp?) being cut!! AAHHH!!! Paris dying makes me laugh. I'm sorry how crude that is I can never help it! But still I really want to make a haunt after this...now I need money...and ALOT OF WAX!!
    Can you stake my heart?
