I am trying to figure out what day to the Halloween Party this year, Hate it, I usually have the day picked by now!

Would like to do it Saturday the 25th but there are some conflicts with people that I would like to have come. I know there is always going to be someone who can't make it, but I would miss out on some family that are really creative with their costumes.

I don't want to do it Saturday Nov 1st (unless someone comes up with really good reasons to do it then).

Friday actual Halloween day is dueable athough it does work better for Many reasons to do it on a Saturday.

Saturday the 18th works for most schedules, but it so early!

    HELP

    Thanks

I'm going with Friday the 24th. I didn't want to be bothered on Halloween night with a party and TOTs. I also think Nov. 1 is just not right, after all, it's November already. Saturdays here are just not good because of football games, one never knows what time they begin. So we always do it on a Friday Fright night. At least next year Halloween won't be on Friday, so it will solve a lot of problems.

I live out in the county, so we don't get any trick or treaters. That is one of the main reasons I started this party.

What time do you do your party? we usually start between 5 - 6, and I know that can be hard for people on a Friday after work. 7:00 might be o.k. We also have a lot of people travelling 1 - 2 hours (the two hours or more stay the night).

Football games have got in our way too, one of them is the 2 hour away people, so if the game is early Sat. they are good for Saturday night.

I can't wait till next year it Will be on Halloween night!

We get a lot of trick or treaters here, it's a family subdivision and with all our props outside they swarm us. I like to start our party later, like 7 or 7:30, since I like it to be darker. Also, being on Friday night, it is hard for people who work to get here that early. Starting later has never been a problem, we usually get 60 to 70 people here. I guess with traveling it could be a problem. And the party usually lasts till 11 or so, but a few always stay later. That's ok with me as I'm ready to collapse by then. Those football games are a pain. I also want to watch the games, not be serving people One year there was some baseball game on and everyone swarmed the TV to watch. I didn't like that much so changed to Friday nights since then. But if you don't get many TOTS you may want to do it on the 31st. That would be perfect.

My party is always the Saturday before Halloween night which as you stated is Oct 25th this year. Those who can make it come. Those who can't miss out. One of my brothers and my sister's in-laws who never miss my party couldn't make it last year, but that's life. It's made them anticipate this year's party that much more. My brother even drove 40 miles each way the night before the party just to see the decorations. I was disappointed that they couldn't be there, but we've designated that our party is always the Saturday before Halloween barring anything catastrophic. It wouldn't be fair to others who really wanted to go and would be able to on our designated night, but not the night we changed it to.

And we start at 7:00pm... never before the street lights come on. It's hard to get the full affect of our spooky decor without darkness.

That's how I feel. If they can't come, they can't come. Ours is always the Friday before Halloween and people know that. They should plan accordingly. So be it!

This only our 2nd year, and I've got to pick between the 11th and the 18th. I can't do it on the 25th because it's too close to hunting season and 75% or more of my guest and their families are hunters. We're out in the country too, no ToT's, so that's why we do the party. Saturday's just work better all the way around down here - more time to prep, etc. We usually start about an hour before dark.

How great is it that Halloween is going to be on a Friday this year, and next year, a SATURDAY! My vote for you is to stick with Friday, the day of. I think that it gives the party a certain more oomph. Start is a little later in the evening, like 7 or 7:30 so you can still hand out some candy, and then what about just putting out a bowl with the, "just take one"? I know, I know, they never listen, lol.
How do you like my darkness now?

I'm going with the party on the BIG DAY as well. We always have friends and loads of kids from school with parents in tow dropping by (and staying) anyway so I might as well-last Halloween I had to order 10 pizzas for all of the unexpected guests that made us their last trick-or-treat stop! It will be crazy for sure but I can't wait!

O.K. I have to admit that after listening to peoples input I am starting to lean to the 'Big Day' and for the first time in 10 Years, Yes, this is our tenth party, have it on a Friday.

I would go on about my thoughts, but, I have had a little wine so I think I will respond more in detail tomorrow.

    Thanks for everyones input!!!
