This Halloween Fiend got an unexpected fix on a rainy April day.
While out running errands, I decided to stop in to the little variety store that used to be the Ben Franklin in Mound, which incidently was my grandparents B.F. before it became the variety store. I went in more for the sake of nostalgia then to buy any of the assorted sewing, gardening and home decor supplies overflowing from all the isles.
Just strolling through the isles of dated toys, pet supplies etc, (when's the last time you saw a Rugrats toy?) I came right to an isle with HALLOWEEN COSTUMES! (Plus effects makeup and fake mustaches!) I was literally making "ahh" sounds as I looked at the bounty. I don't often go in so I had no idea they kept Halloween stock out all year. I even found a JOL flashlight. I didn't want to leave!
I knew the best way to relish the day would be to share it with everyone on the forum![]()

Excellent! I know of a few places (at least 3) in the Chicagoland area that stock Halloween supplies year-round, but they're a little out of the way and prices are a little over the top, so I rarely go. It is nice to drop in from time-to-time when I'm near to get that little "fix". Thanks for sharing.

what fun, finding a unexpected halloween bounty! The party city by here keeps out some of their halloween, about half, maybe less, and of course isn't cheap, but I stop in every so often to stroll the isles and soak in the halloween, hoping that something new will be out, but enjoying what is there. mostly costumes and make up, wigs, and the like, propbably for mascarade parties and such, but until they get more, it'll do me fine.
I have flying monkeys- and I'm not afraid to use them!

A year round Halloween store?! Lucky! Every now and then I realize that there is an item I desperatly need and have to wait 9 months to purchase. If there was one near me I'd be their best customer!
